I guess that's what Obama, Boehner, Reid and their predecessors meant by "balancing the budget". Congratulations Federal Government, you have put us into dept equal to our output. There isn't a senior member of Congress (either party) who can point their stinky fingers across the aisle on this one. Congress, Obama this is an EPIC FAIL and it's all on YOU!!!!! http://www.usdebtclock.org/

I honestly think that most of the people in government think it's no big deal. They think they can just keep spending with no consequences at all. They'll keep spending until the debt is greater than than the GDP and it all comes crashing down. Then, when the dollar is worthless and there's civil unrest, they'll say, "I wonder what happened... who caused this?" The upcoming presidential election is only part of the problem. The American people need to wise up and start electing Senators and Representatives that actually want to fix things, instead of the blowholes that presently populate congress. A few good people got elected the last time around but most of them need to go. It's time for a new breed in government, but we need to change a few other things too, like term limits and taking away the big pay and perks for government officials. Eliminate their fat retirement plans altogether and force them to live by the same rules and laws that the rest of us have to. The only way these things will get changed is if we vote out all the "establishment" types and get new blood in there. Sooner or later, if things get bad enough and the people get mad enough, it will happen.

Those are scary figures, and while I have to say that Obama deserves some of the blame, so does the entire Congress, and EVERY American citizen for voting them back into office and letting the corruption continue. We need term limits, and some people in office that ACTUALLY care about fixing the nation's problems instead of promoting their own agenda at our expense. If they would stop spending money with the pretense that it actually SAVES money in the long run, we might actually be able to accomplish something. On the other hand, everybody talks about cutting the spending and the budget, but when the hard facts are on the table no one wants to cut this program or that one so nothing gets done. As long as this cycle continues we WILL GET deeper in debt and NOTHING will get fixed.
