I own several websites. I also, make YouTube videos. I will be joining the strike on all 6 of my sites. Now we all know that songs are used as background music on many YouTube videos, however, users don't make profit off the videos. I do think this SOPA is going too far, WAY too far. Now, I do agree that sites like The Pirate Bay needs to be shut down. I believe companies like Electronic Arts make excellent games and deserve the money they charge. It takes a long time to develop such games, take a lot of money to pay the designers with such excellent and rare talent to make the graphics, programmers to make the game operate correctly. So why steal it? "Oh I can't Afford it!" So that gives you the right to steal it? I don't think so. I am also a DJ. I love music. Now, granted music artists, movie stars live in big houses with more bedrooms and bathrooms than necessary. Many people say that these artists are greedy as well as record companies. I can understand this....to a point. But these record companies are going too far with not allowing users to sing a song on YouTube. Now when you search YouTube, you see many users posting full length songs with lyrics showing on the screen. These should be put to a stop as there are sites that have lyrics in text. That's all you need. Why do these videos need to be stopped? Think about it....People can go to YouTube and listen to these songs over and over again without buying it. Face It. Artists have a great talent that we love to hear, so give them the credit. .99 to 1.25 a song. omg Now I know some are going to be like "What about VEVO?" Vevo is legal. Record companies choose to put videos there themselves. We can't put all the blame on Record Companies and the Government for this crap. Blame thief's who think they don't have to pay for Software, Movies, and Music. They caused this more than anything. You don't like it when something is stolen from you, don't steal from people on the internet.

Hello Airkulet! Copyright and piracy issues had been going on in the internet for so long. While SOPA would definitely benefit authors or owners, I am not sure what's the extent of its effect if the bill will be approved. Looking at the side of an author, let say of an article, I personally don't want somebody copying my work. I mean if they will be using my article then I should be given the due credit. We all know that piracy isn't good. And I think everyone is aware, especially writers about copyright and plagiarism. I think SOPA is a redundancy of the existing laws....Hmm, I'm not really sure though, will read more about this. Thanks for bringing this up. I think a lot of bloggers should be aware on this.

I agree, there is a good and bad side of these law what I don't like is you are not allowed to speak up for what you believed in for, if the Government detect that you're site are against the will or protesting against the government they have the right to take down that site. And you are right bloggers like us should be aware of it, though I also use some photos of others I make sure to give credits for the original owner. And the stealing of rights and property are already had a law so we don't need this law to be implemented

Will the SOPA Law affect non-US owned and run sites? I'm from another country and we're not privy to the details of that law. But from what I've gathered, if a site doesn't deal with any pirated stuff or infringes on copyrights, I don't think their operations would be affected by the enactment of this law. It would however make the administrators of these sites, including myLot, more vigilant in the use of pirated stuff, including plagiarism and the like. Well, like I said, I don't know the details :)
