do we have any turks in here? would be nice:) I'm really interested in this country and I have a boyfriend there (its a long distance realtionship) and I was wondering what is it life like in Turkey for a modern woman, for example if you get married (im christian) one has to convert to islam to be able to marry, right?
and thing that worries me is that in islam a man is very much superior to a woman which also gives him the right to beat her, so how much present is that in Turkey nowadays and are people still so hardcore living by Quran rules? also how is it with men having more than one wife? and well economy, whats the average salary, how is the social security system, how is healthcare, human rights, laws...etc. I'd really appreciate some turks enlightening me more about this beautiful country :)
oh and another thing I almost forgot to ask is women covering themselves, does a modern woman still have to do it? cause i know many turkish girls in their 20's, 30's who like bare it all, so im confused...

I am English but I have traveled on a trip to beautiful Turkey. I can say that it gets very hot there in the summer but miserably cold in the winter. Yes, the men are superior to the ladies there. I think you could wear Western clothes living there. If you have children it could be very challenging if you split up and tried to take your kids back to your original country. The Turkish husband would be likely to keep them living in his home country. There is sound from a mosque five times a day beginning at dawn. Good luck deciding if you will move to lovely Turkey.

You are lucky to be able to travel to other countries. That certainly costs a lot of money. I can not even affort to travel to other cities within my country. Although it is local traveling, the cost is high. I'd better wait till I have enough money. I used to stay in London some years ago but it was the government expense. I certainly love to travel there again but if it is at my expense, I don't think it is possible.

maxim thanks a lot for your response. I'm glad to hear you've been fortunate to experience this beautiful and interesting country :) I know about the faith rules there, but what about modern turkish women, tennagers, young women, do they have to cover when going around too? cause I meet so many girls, young, turkish online that dont, like in their 20's and so on. and does that rule still apply that a woman has to ask a man if she wants to go anywhere? as in islam it states in their religion they have to ask and also they are not allowed to work, only be housewives, but I dont know how much these rules changeed with modern age?
and as yazalong says, its pretty much same with me, its expensive to travel around and I love it, so those that have the opportnity like you are indeed very lucky:)
