hi friends how many of us carry a phone book or a note book which contains our contact list handwritten,i always carry with me a phone book ,and even by heart the numbers means remember some important numbers as we dont know when the time will be out of our hands. Today my father when travelling in a bus ,he faint,he did not carry his mobile or do not remember any phone numbers, though he have hundreds of contact,he just remember our home phone. But in that situation the people in the bus helped him ,taken to a nearby hospital and given him treatment . He after recovering took some one else phone and called home ,the call was not connecting . I was wondering why he was late to reach home .I got a missed call to my home number so i called back ,then that person said that some one called me and asked if i was bharti,,i said yes,he did not say anything as he might himself not know about anything. After my father reached home he said all that had happened . Thank god ,he is home.

Hi uma, thank God your dad's alright. I do have an address book, not carried around though. I stopped having one when mobile phone started getting popular and I relied on them to keep phone numbers. After losing all contact numbers due to breakage or accident, I decided to have address book again. Now I write all the contact numbers in my address book. I write them on my mobile first and when I get home, copy them down to the address book.

Hi,yes everyone are doing the same thing,as we get more and more facilities we forget many important things and become lazy. As everyone got mobiles no one are byhearting numbers of their own and are leaving it on mobile contact phonebook. Some problems come without informing anyone. So we should be careful all the time and be ready in every situation. i said to my father that i will write down his numbers in a phone book, but it would be good if he himself writes down as he can have a record in his mind while writing and can remove or delete contacts which he does not need.

I guess, in our family, we must enforce that every one have each other phone number and put it in one group. And make it clear that it is the most important group. I think almost of all cell phone can be set like that. Good thing that your father is safe.

umabharti: Please purchase a cell phone and give to your father when he goes out--teach him how to operate. also write your phone nos. and give it to him for keeping in his pant pocket. Elderly people like myself and him should carry details of contact no,. etc. I appreciate Uma for contacting the missed call number. Lesson: Even missed calls are important at times.

he has his mobile however he forgot it at home,he uses it more than me ,he has more contacts and people who call him and he talks a lot on mobile.I use less ,but i take care of rememberng ,noting in a book and charing and keep the phone up to date and time ,using it in a proper way. Yes missed calls are also important, its only that we say its a miss call but if we want to make a contact with it then it depends on us and the other party. Elderly people shoudl be more careufl. As they always need some thing being with them like their identity and address so that at any time they will get help and it will be easy for others to intimate home or concerned people. today he is taking rest.he went out as usual ,and did his works as usual. Some time s some things happen unknowingly,so for that period of time we shoudl be ready.

Sorry to hear about what happened to your father. Now I know how important really it is to know important numbers by heart. I've got loads of numbers of my family members and my friends saved on my phone. But the odd thing is that I only know by heart my mom's number and my home phone. Even my own number I don't actually memorized yet. I used to only know my old number but when I got this two new numbers I had a hard time remembering it so when someone asked for my number or I need to write my number on a form I'm filling up I used to always check my phone first to make sure I've written the right contact information. Good thing that there were people who helped your father.

yes some incidents happen without our notice and all of sudden so for such situations at least as we do for kids an identity card around their neck or in their pockets ,is good for them as well as for elders. As people grow elder and become old they become kids so the care should be as if we take care for little children. If the care is good then we do not need to worry about them at any time. I called back that number which came to my home phone and said thanks also.I felt happy for that help .Really some times we do not know who will help us. May be still there is humanity everywhere.

This situation of your father is an perfect example of a trouble when he has nothing to do . I think that the strangers come in help because of god's grace. Not only your father not even me doesn't by-heart or remember becuase we have them inside our pocket. Those numbers are quite inside our pocket So this an lesson to your dad and also to me, to make some of the numbers by heart and not to become lazy on it

yes this is a good thing! Nice idea. Carrying a phonebook can help us. In our everyday activities we dont know when do we need help. If your cell phone is empty. You can easilly drop by on a telephone booth. "Phonebook"

its a wonderful idea but many have no time for it ,for noting and remembering all the numbers of their contacts. So few are byhearted but not all.Its good to carry a phone book with details of important things . yes if we have phone book which can not drowned in water or torn ,such type of phone book can help a lot,and if it is updated automatically ,then it is more easy .

Most cell phones you can put your information into a contact list and speed dial. My contacts are all in my phone...as well as in a file on my computer. That way if one or the other goes corrupt i can re-import it. Also with my blackberry if i need to lookup a number i can look up canada411 and search threre. Very handy!

Phone can be charged in my car...or through the usb on my laptop which i keep charged as well.(and also can be charged in my car) And if the power is out bad enough...typically the cell tower is out anyways here and i wont be making any calls anyways. If the power is out for several hours...i do have a generator that is run and connected to my deep freeze, fridge and furnace with a couple extra outlets for a lamp or something i wish to charge. Canada 411 is a website...as well as a mobile app that allows one to look up any listed number in canada if you have the name and location. I keep a written address book as well but i dont carry it with me.
