What will you do if SOPA/PIPA is passed?

This is mostly geared towards US citizens as we will be limited the most (though I do not by any means intend to discourage non-US citizens to post as it will effect you to some degree as well). My big question today is: What will you do if SOPA/PIPA gets passed? Before you answer, here's a few things you might want to know: What is SOPA/PIPA? SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) was an original act that was proposed to try to cut back on online piracy, which is an admittedly big problem. PIPA (Protect IP Act) is intended to do also aid with helping cut back on piracy. The way this is intended to be done is the US government will basically restrict what sites US citizens can access and any site that is "blacklisted" as containing copyright infringement will be blocked. SOPA, if passed, would make it possible for the US government to force companies such as search engines and advertisers and any site that links to other sites to remove any links to "blacklisted" sites or face being blacklisted themselves. It also allows companies to accuse any other site of copyright infringement, at which point the site must respond to the allegations or be shut down or blacklisted. PIPA, if passed, would require internet providers (IPs) to restrict access to any site that is deemed to either be committing copyright infringement or enabling a site that does (in other words, a site that is blacklisted basically). They will also be able to take legal action against any search engines or advertisers or blogs or directories that have links to such blacklisted sites in order to get them to remove these links. Note: I am not a professional in these matters, I've simply been tryign to keep up with the media and news and talking with others about it, so take it or leave it what you believe from such sources. Please do correct me if I have misunderstood something! Some notable sites that would likely be affected by SOPA/PIPA: - Wikipedia - Google - Yahoo Search - Bing - YouTube - any and all scanlation sites - Deviantart - Fanfiction sites including fanfiction.net - Fan-made sites for certain fandoms - blogs that may link to blacklisted sites Additional reading: These are good articles, in my opinion, that break SOPA/PIPA down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:SOPA_initiative/Learn_more http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/design/how-sopa-pipa-can-affect-you/ Now that you know... What would you do if SOPA/PIPA was passed? I would basically be driven off the Internet because I've been thinking about all the sites that I visit on a daily basis and I'm fairly certain that all of them would fall under a category that could be blocked by the government. It would be sad to lose all the reasons I have to go on the Internet thus far, but on the positive side I'd be a lot more productive without the temptation the Internet provides.

phyrre, I do not knowingly visit sites that fall into these categories. SOPA/PIPA shouldn't have an overwhelming effect on me but I am concerned about the governmental involvement and oversight. I agree that illegal actions over the net need to be policed but I am not sure by whom. I also believe that no matter what protective measures are put into place, there will be people who will be able to get around those measures. This fight is far from over, I just hope that there won't be too many people hurt needlessly. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
