i have an acer laptop with windows 7. i was in the middle of a discussion and all of a sudden, the programming shut down!! screen popped up showing that the program was preparing a windows configuration. after 5 min, it restarted. it even brought me back to mylot, but it lost my discussion! if it could have warned me, i could have delayed it just one minute so i could have posted my discussion. but there was no warning! how can i prevent this from interfering my time?? that is so annoying!

it seem strange for me, but your program need to update, i think. clean the folder you no need or no use. else, check the properties, maybe it set to restart without any notification. but i most recomendad you to upgrade your program. take it to the laptop service.

I'm sorry to hear that, angelwithkids. I encountered that kind of issue for several times. The only difference is that there's always a warning. I can choose to restart my computer later. The warning message is very small which is always located at the bottom right corner of the screen. Are you sure you weren't warned?

i didn't see a warning. considering that it was before 6 a.m., i was typing in the dark. it's a possibility that i could have missed a warning.

You can change how Windows Automatic Updates work. I have set mine to automatically download the updates but then to wait until I tell the OS to carry out the updates. a) this allows the updates to take place when it is convenient to me, and b) it gives me time to check online to find out if any of the updates are causing trouble with other users

You can usually schedule the timing of your windows update settings. I don't know where this is in windows seven, but try looking for scheduled tasks or security settings. Its actually possible to switch your computer to manual update, but then again you miss out on important updates and patches that make the computer run smoother.

Sorry I have not faced the problem of that sort as yet so I cannot give you any solution of that sort.

It seems to me you either have a malware/virus infection, or you have Windows Update set so that it can automatically restart the computer at any time if it so chooses. I suggest getting your computer scanned and also checking your Windows Update configuration for automatic restart.

I counsel you to write your first discussion of such notepad and save it from time to time. However, certain that your computer has a problem that would be reviewed.
