I was given a Chinese New Year's cake!

Earlier today, one of my Chinese students gave me Chinese New Year's cake. It is known here as Tikoy. They call it Nian Gao. This is a food prepared from glutinous rice. It is available in Asian supermarkets and from health food stores. Although it can be eaten all year round, traditionally, it is most popular during Chinese New Year. I am so happy that even if I am not Chinese, he remembered to greet me early and give me something that is a necessity during Chinese New Year.

Yes,it's Chinese New Year next week. I would like to buy Tikoy- it's cheaper this time and sometimes they're giving it for free...I mean some establishments were giving it for free.

I received a box of tikoy, too! My boss gave one to me last Friday. He also gave me a dragon charm which I can put it in my office table. I was so happy. And to think he even bought it from Binondo. ^^ He also gave some dragon charms to his other subordinates. When it comes to Chinese belief, my boss is an avid believer. Happy Chinese New Year! ^^
