Like being physically active. Which while in young age is taking part in sports & games and in middle age & beyond, is regular walking. Eating simple and non fatty food rich in fiber as well as plenty of fresh greens, breathing plenty of fresh air, taking regular and adequate sleep, avoiding negative emotions as well as consumption of harmful stuff, all these don't cost a dime but just determination. The lure of indiscretion ruins the health and then we become slaves to prescriptions. Rarely do people who maintain discipline and harmony with nature suffer health issues. Sticking to basics should not be difficult. What do you say?

Yes, I do agree with you. Some philosophies and beliefs to adhere to sticking with nature. I have read something about reconnecting with nature to be able to synchronize again your body and make it more lively and vent out stress. That is why people enjoy going in beaches and doing nature trips because the body synchronizes with the waves of the sea, the breeze of the wind and the energy of the trees. Humans are part of nature, so to be able to fix our bodies and health, we must go back to nature to understand our body well. In fact I am already going to reconnect with nature tomorrow to vent out the stresses of my mind and body. I will be going mountain climbing. Really, climbing and moving to see nature itself is a worthwhile experience and is really beneficial to my body.

Thanks for the best response! Yes, I do feel that reconnecting with nature is being neglected nowadays with the pressures of the technological world. That is why I am trying my best to practice habits of going back to nature so that I won't be a slave of the fast paced and technological world we are now living in. I just finished my climbing trip and it felt good to hike over the mountains and relax with the sound of the waterfalls and breath in fresh air.

I am a life lover. So I am not thinking all the time in health but I do listen to my body needs. My body usually knows best. Sometimes I also listen to other needs. I love to party, to have fun. That usually leads to some excess. But Measure forever is not for me. I would not feel alive.

marguicha: I can understand your point of view. It may be true that being too concerned and too much of a stickler would make one lose a significant spice of life. Yet, to the extent one can try to reconnect with nature whenever feasible, one would may be able to enjoy the same life better. . I appreciate the spirit though!

hi pushhyarag It was all so very good until I found - Junk Food Tasty, Delicious and still Junk And once the taste buds got the new taste they found it quite addictive and there started all the issues... Today I need a lot of fast food, junk food and the lifestyle of today doesnt allow all those who have tasted these delicacies to even think or find time to prepare the - So boring but yet, Healthy Foods. There was freshness in the air but today there is more pollution than anywhere in the air you and I breathe... The water as they used to call it lifegiving - brings plenty of diseases... The Greens of the environment today start to get more concrete as we start to live in concrete jungles.... They say this is the Modernization but I feel this is nothing more than just becoming slaves of the Material World... Many feel good to be slaves and others feel good as they can mint money from tasking these slaves... How much I wish I could leave all this materialistic stuff and return back to the days when all ws free, natural and in abundance... I would never have fallen ill and infected with Chrons or Ulcerative Colitis or even Cancer or tuberculosis

Hi sids: We seem to be doing everything wrong: as individuals & as society-don't we? But yet, for individuals, all is not lost. What is needed is discretion and attitude. The very trigger for the post came from the fact that just before I posted, I chose to skip the car or public transport in preference for a long walk in the evening to go to the auditor and I felt there were multiple gains with just one good habit: good exercise, good outlook because you tend to observe life in slow motion when you walk instead of zipping past everything, you can also choose the lanes with less vehicle movement etc. Poor never suffer from ailments like diabetes, BP, heart attack though they can due to malnutrition & hunger but most rich man's diseases are reserved for people who choose sedentary living over hard work, eating junk food over simple healthy stuff and so on. We build on the strength of good natural habits shunning as much unhealthy ones and we would have done our bit to preserve our health.

Yes, but I think it is easier said than done. LOL. Nowadays when everything is done in a hurry, one can't help but just buy fast foods which usually are laden with fats. How I wish we could make everything simpler and make natural foods easily available.

Cutie: it may seem so but there is always a possible way to balance it out. Like if you can't help eating fast foods, then make it up by burning off the excess fat by resorting to some extra walk! Or avoid spending too much time at the TV. Or even being more outdoors after day's work [in open spaces with fresh air] than being stuck indoors. These should be possible. Unless, the fast food has the effect of negating everything else like this!

yeah, I think that's all true :-) besides, determination is also necessary for abstinence. There are so many things we don't need but which lure us everyday. Often this means a waste of raw materials or energy but if we look at it a bit more philosophically it especially means a waste of time. For example: when we watch TV we waste energy and very often a lot of time and some say we also waste gray matter by it. We buy so much unnecessary stuff that has been produced by people who only earn very little money for it. Instead those people could produce something useful for themselves, e.g. food or clothes. Unfortunately they have to pay taxes and they have to work for that money or rather for the people that want to live a life in luxury. If all people would only produce and use the things they really need and get rid of all the unnecessary stuff that would mean a lot less waste, a lot less worries etc. We all could live a carefree life except for health problems. Every other living animal on Earth has adapted to nature. On the contrary we try to adapt nature to us.

You are right on many counts stk: we invite diseases by eating wrong, by over eating and by not aiding healthy assimilation of what we eat. We also eat at the wrong time, the wrong kind of foods, phew.. so many indiscretions that can compound our miseries. We are doing several things contrary to what nature would have us do and yes, as you say, we expect nature to adapt to us. Sounds ridiculous many a time. Like for example, spending huge time watching TV, doing no useful physical activity, never finding or making use of opportunities to walk rather than drive-all are against nature. I only wish we make full use of basic living styles and avoid harmful habits and we have done our bit for a healthy life.

Pushyarag: You are correct. We have to take care of our health more when we become old--that is at this stage. We should be careful in food we eat. We must have walking exercise, eat food without fat, sweet and oil. Above all we must have desire to be active and this will make us be healthy.

ravisivan: I think you are quite disciplined and you maintain some very healthy habits like healthy sleep, early rising, walking and a disciplined schedule. That's why I respect the seniors! People like me are unable to match those of earlier generation who used to be in a relatively sound health even at 80. Reason: living naturally!

I really think that the best prescription for sound health is a combination of nature and prescriptions when you do develop certain diseases. For example, with my husband dealing with cancer, it was a given that he would have to undergo chemotherapy. However, also changing his diet and trying to drink more water and have more exercise in the future are going to be things that will keep him from having a cancer recurrence.

It is difficult if you grow up in a big city and are a kid, not able to choose your own food and the place you live. Poor people don't have the money (over here) to buy healthy food. What is bad is the cheapest. Vegetables, fruit is expensive so are meat and milkproducts. It's proven that the base of what you eat, how you live is made in the first years of your life. Living with nature, back to basic is only possible if you live already in nature or if you have a lot of money to make that possible.

Kitty: Kids learn their lifestyle habits from their parents and the environment they grow in don't they? If kids don't inculcate healthy living habits, don't you think parents should get their major share of blame? It is parents who pamper the kids to gloat over the indulgence they taught their kids under an illusion that they have flooded their kids with goodies. More than the kids starting to ask, it is the parents who sem to overwhelm their kids with junk merely because they feel they are giving their kids the best! I agree basic food stuff as well vegetables & fruits cost too much nowadays. But come to think of it: how much do people spend on processed food. What I'm suggesting is avoidance of wrong habits. Not buying or consuming expensive stuff. Most of today's health problems are related to sedentary lives, inadequate and disorderly sleep, adulterated & junk food consumption etc. If we can regulate what is simple to follow and only demands the right attitude, its not hard to stick to nature. My thoughts.
