Friends. Shouldnt the doctors give their cell numbers to their patients should their patients have an attack like for an example... for cardiologists, if they really are concerned with their patients, shouldnt they be 24/7 or on-call? What do you think?

I think you're right. But doctors I know don't give their personal cell numbers, they ask their secretaries to give theirs Because when they do give their own cell numbers, then they will have to ask you for a certain fee, Just a thought, though. I, too, have wondered about this.

Hi Nellia! The reason why i have thought of this topic was when my brother was really feeling bad about his cardiac ailment. There seems to be something wrong with the medications that his doctor advised me of. So, my brother called the clinic in the hope to ask the doctor about his case. The doctor's secretary said that the doctor was busy with other patients and if that he wants to discuss some matters, my brother should personally go visit him. This pissed my brother off as his is an emergency. The clinic is very far from us so we just took my brother to the nearest hospital. When my brother was finally discharged, he immediately faxed a letter of complaint against the doctor for being so inconsiderate and rude.

I don´t think they have to be personally on-call all day and night (not even mothers are), but I think they should belong to some system where there´s someone on call if they cannot be there. While I was at the hospital, my oncologist was away for 2 days but told me about the doctor who would be on charge and she told him about my treatment and needs.

hi grace, what a life they will have if every patient call then every now and then. if i am a doctor, i would prefer the hospital to call me whenever i have a critical patient who checked in. otherwise, i like to have a life like other people. ann

I am not believing in your statement because doctor also have personal life ..In emergence condition they always present for there patient .. just think if they available for 24/7 they what about there family and they cant give enough time to there family and that it creates lots of problem in there life .. I worked under cardiologists and how they busy in duty hours i know because i am medical student .. some time for doctor it is really hard to mange there job with family ..

I do think that if they there cellular phone number to there patient are they going to have a " life" because there is a time that you need to have a break between somewhere you know doctors are human like all of us, there is always doctors on duty so they can go to emergency if necessary. And then the next day that their doctor is on duty can see them, whatever, I'm not a doctor so I might not think like one but I do know that you need a rest.

doctors now anywhere want to become habitual of to take money from patients, not want to permanent to contact with patients. once he got fee from patient, they will wait for second to get that, with that doctor not want to talk with patients.

No. Doctors are people too and they need time off. Time to sleep, eat, enjoy their families and do things outside of work. If there are emergencies like a heart attack, there are hospital emergency rooms and they will call a doctor (th patient's own doctor if possible) to deal with it.
