Have you ever had a painless migraine?

The other day, after really over doing it moving house I had this weird migraine. It started with the usual numbness in my hand and then spread over the whole right hand side of my body, weakness and numbness. Usually when I have one of these migraines I get a thumping headache after the fact but I was really surprised after about an hour and a cat nap it was completely gone. Have you ever had a migraine like this with absolutely no pain? They are different for everybody. What are your headaches or migraines like?

No, I haven't experienced what you had. Did you feel just numbness but no headache? Migraine for me is painful and throbbing, either on the left or right side of my head. I would feel dizzy and nauseous. Light and noise can only make it worse. Sometimes backache will accompany it. Thanks!

That sounds dreadful! Usually I get some numbness, loss of vision and speech and then extreme pain, but not usually throbbing so much. Yes on this occasion no headache at all but I did feel really weird. Headaches and migraines are so very cruel. Do you know the triggers for yours?

Lack of sleep is one of the triggers; another is when I ignore hunger (when I'm rushing to do things); oily and spicy foods; and very hot weather. The first two are my topmost triggers.

My migraines usually start just like yours my eyes also go all blurry and I find it really hard to focus on things, but I've never had one without the headache. Sometimes my migraines can be really terrible, they can affect my speech to the point where no one can understand what I am saying and it gets really frustrating for me as I know in my mind what I want to say but the words don't come out how I want them, sometimes they can make me vomit. Sometimes they can be quite mild, just my eyes will go blurry and i will get the numbness in my body that will last about 30 minutes, but even a mild one gives me a headache that always lasts hours.

Luckily I do not get migraines but some of my family members have migraine. Often when they get migraine, they vomit and then spend the day in a hazed way. They say that it hurts some where between the ears. I have not seen any of their migraines not being painful. Often it seems that migraines occur in a higher proportion, if they stay hungry or if they are tensed in someway. That is really difficult especially during exam times. When the kids get tensed because of exams tension, they get migraine and it gets more difficult for them to study.

Thanks samd87, I totally sympathize with you. Your migraines sound a lot like mine!! This one was unusual for me in that their was no headache, but boy was I glad about that. It's really debilitating getting migraines. For a lot of years I got them regularly but after having my baby I seem to only get them when I am pregnant now. How often do you get them? If I take panadol early they may be a little less severe but I find it really hard to speak also, and to function. Driving would definately be out of the question! Thanks also mselin, I agree there can be triggers for migraines. Stress, dehydration, overwork and exhaustion, and too much tea or coffee seem to be my main triggers. It's nice of you to sympathize because it is hard for people who don't get them to understand just how debilitating they are!

Hi.. Yes, I have had these quite often. I don't get the body numbness, but the tunnel vision. It starts with flashing lights around the periphery of my vision, and then a big black spot obscures anything I am trying to focus on. This will last up to around an hour, and then disappear.. I used to then get the most intense head pain you could imagine (well I guess you know), but somehow these days, no pain follows. I feel a little nauseous for a while, and maybe some dull headache, but that's it. It could be because I practice daily meditation, and focus on any pain rather than take pain-killers because they don't really do anything for me anyway.. Another reason could be that I have also quit eating sugar many years ago on the advice of a food doctor and that has made a big difference to my feeling of well-being and general health. I remember him saying that a lot of his migraine sufferers had an intolerance to sugar and by removing it from the diet completely, the migraines would slowly disappear. There is a lot more information I have found on http://www.mercola.com Just do a search for sugar information. (not an affiliate lnk). _Derek

Hi Puppynut, I've never had a migraine like what you describe here and I've never heard one described like that. What you are describing sounds almost more like a stroke or something. I've had migraines but they are excrciating headaches and my vision has been blurred...can't stand noise or light. I've never heard anyone complain about their body going numb. Hope it's not something more serious that you are experiencing.

Hi sid556. This particular migraine was very scary and different and I thought maybe I was having a stroke or something. I have heard of migraines like mine, with numbness. They are very scary and debilitating, but I also feel for people who get the extremely painful type of migraine. Thanks for your concern.

Hi. Yes sometimes they make me cry too. I hope you aren't experiencing too much stress, because stress and headaches aren't good either! Maybe we all need to relax more! Thanks for your comment.
