I am a completed believer, in that I know with all certainty that YAHVAH (GOD) exists, that Yashua (Jesus) is the savior of the age, and that the spirit is what gives us life. I am a completed believer also in that I believe all of the prophesies of the BIBLE have been completely fulfilled in 70 (68) A.D.
The things we should be doing now is not waiting for the "second coming" but helping this world with what is stated in James 1:27. What do you think about James 1:27 and how it affects your life, and the lives of others? Is it relevant, or should we let the government worry about those in need? Do we need the government involved in church matters?
(For all who think that "seperation of church and state" is something the constitution wanted, need to know that the meaning was that government will not hold one religion over another, not that the government has no place in the church.)
Where we are in this day is, what I believe, a far cry from where the early church was. I think we have gone astray and need a shepherd that knows the way.

James 1:27 says "7 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." (NIV)
While I wait for the second coming, I believe that James 1:27 is absolutely relevant right now, just like all of the Bible is. The government does a poor job of caring for the orphans and widows because it's too far removed from them.
God expects us to care for each other. That's a basic thought in Christianity and many other religions. If we would actually care for each other, there wouldn't be any need for welfare. I can't speak against all churches because some have excellent outreaches and some do what they can, but not all do. Not all even care. I have seen people come to a church in need of help and be taken to the Salvation Army. That's help? I guess so, but anyone on the street could have done that.
Maybe I shouldn't have got started on this but it's a sore spot with me.
When this nation was founded, we'd just escaped, by means of a horrible war, the clutches of a nation that required its citizens to "be" whatever religion the king wanted them to be. No one was allowed to question the Church or to deviate from its teachings at all.
Our leaders tried to make sure that would never happen here. They would turn over in their graves if they saw what we've done with their efforts. The many churches have given up their rights in so many ways that they'd wonder why they bothered.
A far cry, indeed, but not everyone has lost his way. There is a remnant, just like always. God has His people and He is in control, regardless of what it looks like.

Thank you peavey. I know somewhere in the tiny heart of government there is hope. I may be an optimist, but I am also a realist. You are correct in stating that our government was founded on the concepts found in the BIBLE. Also that not everyone has lost their way.
I am reminded of a time when I was younger, and my mother would take us to the big town of Idaho Falls, Idaho. We would walk in to a store and there would be a man holding a sign asking for help. It wasnt until later in life that I found out many people, even Christians, needing help, never find it.
Even in the church people do not know what James 1:27 reads. I tell them and they say things like, "I just dont have time to help everyone" and I say that even one person needing help is enough. Just do your best, and make sure all people have what they need. And dont forget about your own family. Thank you for your comment and may YAHVAH bless you in all you do. :) :)

I think after 2000 years indeed the church has lost some of the glory of the message, the Good News, and, has picked up some baggage along the way.. But, this is actually to be expected seeing as it has been passed down through many human hands and is made up of people.. I think what is needed is for each individual believer to seriously seek God's Presence in our lives, if we do that, all will be well.. we may suffer persecutions, or should I say will, both spiritually and in the world..

Hello flowerchilde. It is as you say. Many things have been added by "people" and not YAHVAH. Wee have an obligation to the world to do the right thing. If, and when, we do it is something that we do not really look into. I think that people would rather be politically correct than do the right thing.
Look at the LDS church. It is clearly stated in the bible that the church should judge ALL matters in it. But not the MORMONS. Every sin that a person has done being a member, they turn it over to the local athorities.
Thank you for your response. May YAHVAH bless you. :)
