Its been one of those months thus far. I don't recall if I had said in one of my appearances this past year..My dad died this past August, 2 days after my birthday. My little (by 2 years) brother is taking care of things up that way. That's fine by me. The first born stuff has never been important to me..Truth be, things had been going rather well. Its taken some time to get the estate together. Little brother has been doin' the best he can. Between his job and his church involvement he's kept rather busy anyway and, I'm sure, as with all of us, when those down times come he'd try to crash and burn a bit in solitude with his cat. So its taken a bit. He emailed me late last year that he had closed enough accounts that the lawyers had okayed a partial payment on the estate and asked if a check was a problem. I said no problem. I have an account. He sent the check. I took it to my local bailout institution on January 6 to deposit, was told by the teller that it would take 4 days to clear. This is the point where Rod Serling should have wandered in and said 'You are now entering the Twilight Zone..' It would have been appropriate. On the 4th day I went online to check the account to find that the 'hold' had been extended. I was informed, after contacting them (they offer nothing up front) that they had the 'RIGHT' to hold for 11 days. I put the utility bills back on the shelf. The next day I received an email that there was a message in my bank site inbox. The message said that the check had been refused..hmm..so I contacted my brother. (More Rod Serling) He said that though the check was in order AND the money was available THEY (in their godhood) questioned the size of the amount and wanted verification. But as he has a life he didn't scurry immediately to the feet of the master and, apparently, being too important to wait for a definite yay or nay (in their godhood) they refused to pay. I received the returned check this past Saturday, redeposited it on Tuesday and was told by the teller it would be 3 days..Its Sunday. Care to guess. It should have gone thru. Little brother verified the amount with the bailout institution up his way so this is all southern bull (RIGHTS). Phone call gets me on perpetual hold listening to commercials on why they're the bank to have, no hold information available (Try again later..for 3 days now) on site, no replies to messages sent thru site inbox..hmm..the utilities are trying to help out. They know the story but they want a date.. And folks wonder why I hate banks..This was my first in 20 years.. Weird month. Serling to the hilt.. So, have you been thru this kind of bull yourself? Comments..Attitudes..Hate mail? Fuss out begins..
