if someone suffers depression for a long time it will take combination of things to get out of it it will still come and go, never completely disappears otherwise I think a good friend, good diet and communing with nature already help

A total acceptance of the situation has made me get out of depression. My depression has generally been caused by my denial to accept the truth even if it is right before my eyes. Realizing that I have made several steps to preserve my sanity otherwise this depression will overcome my whole body and soul.

I'm still searching for the "rope" to get me out of depression. I just have depression,I've always had it,all they do is prescribe medication for it,when thats not what I want.My depression is definately worse in the winter.I'm hoping for the springtime sunshine to get here soon.Sunshine helps.I'm also hoping to get hired for a job,I've been out of work for three years now,so that isn't a help for me. I am a very negative thinker, but I feel I can't help it. I try listening to spiritual music hoping it will lift my spirits.I'm always getting moody due to my depressive feelings. I'm sure I no joy to be around.I also have a terrible outlook on my appearance.I try to improve my looks, but don't feel impressed.

I think for me it comes and goes. Keeping busy helps me a lot. And spending time with family and friends. I don't think it's good to isolate one's self when we are depressed. Then we are more likely to be left with our own thoughts. Which when we are depressed they are negative.

I can't say that I've outsmarted my brain completely as I still struggle with depression. For me its a set of circumstances that seem very overwhelming. But I'm aware that life changes quickly and my circumstance can't last forever. With that said, on the days where I feel especially down I try to stay busy. If my mind is focused on other things, then there is no opportunity to dwell on the negative. That isn't always easy, becaue when we are feeling down, we don't feel like being 'busy'. It also helps to distract myself through being around people who are positive and upbeat. Some of their happiness spills over onto me. Another tool is music to affect my mood in a positive way. .
