Today I am in dindigul, near Madurai, Tamil Nadu. I wanted to book ticket through internet for my return journey. Initially the Reliance Nerconnect speed was awfully bad and I could not. Subsequently when I used the hotel internet citibank credit card pass way not accepting password. I wasted 40 minutes. Then took an auto to dindigul station. luckily there was not much queue. two counter. One counter girl went out for breakfast--I asked can u not oblige this is tatkal ticket. she did not. another old lady continued booking tickets quickly. There was need for PAN CARD xerox copy. I went to nearby xerox shop. the fellow charged Rs.4 as against maximum of Rs.2. When I went to that shop previous user had left his ID card. I came back to station and told him about that and he felt happy. The second lady worked quickly and got me a ticket for my travel and i felt happy. In fact another person who got the ticket started singing a song expressing happiness. I was having tension till I got the ticket. I would like to place my appreciation for railway staff who functioned fast and effectively. Share your such experiences. good service, bad service. tension for travel ticket.

Well, I've never had the opportunity to take railway travel, but I have had the opportunity to fly many times in my life. One experience, my ticket was booked in my married name as opposed to my maiden name as we were leaving on our trip on the day after our wedding. We had to present our marriage license so that I was able to board the plane, but it didn't prove to be too much of a setback. On another experience, I was flying overseas and the plane was not fully booked, so one of the stewardesses moved myself and my brother to rows on the plane that had no other passengers so that we would be able to stretch out.

dorannmwin: I know normally people fly from one place to another in USA because they are quite far away. Nice you could travel with the ticket in your new name. That must have happened some twenty years ago? is it not? I am not sure.

Luckily, you were able to get your ticket after a rollcoaster kind of ride. I have not had a such experience with a travel ticket but I know that, it can be the most annoying and irritating thing to have to wait for a single ticket for such a long time. Thanks to the lady that attended to your needs.

Yes. It was nice that there was no big queue on that day. I had to go that day morning for taking a class. Luckily the station, hotel etc. were nearer and things moved nicely.
