Sucidal - Coward or Helpless?

Yesterday in my building, a couple smothered their little child and both ate poison and committed suicide. Since then my mind has come to a block - period. I just can not figure out their guts to kill their 4 year old baby girl and then kill themselves. According to the investigations, they were highly in debt.
If they had the courage to take the money and use it, then why not find ways to work for it and then pay it off?
Is it because they were coward and they just wanted to find the easy way of out, so they decided ending life would solve all the problems. Or was it because they were helpless?
There are suicides happening all over the world, every second, for different reasons..
But can someone tell me that if your in the worst of worst situations, is death the only way out?

That is really sad to hear. I can't imagine their pain to do something so horrible. It's hard to speculate what the situation is when you haven't lived their lives. I am not saying it's right I'm saying maybe there is more to it. I don't agree that they should have made that choice for a 4 year old. They could have placed their daughter some where safe before they did what they did. Their pain must have been very serious to do this. Again, I don't agree that they should have taken their daughters life. That is very sad to me.

Sad, just plain sad, that's what I say it. There are a lot of people rather not take the hardships of life rather well. And the results can be rather grim in the most extreme circumstances. Obviously, the fact that they were highly in debt really does tell you what you need to know, about how well they can handle the hardships that life are going to bring them, which is not at all it turns out.
And this is a case that is becoming all too common. There are people who tend to keep borrowing and borrowing and then they are in a corner. And when people are in a corner, they do the most desperate things. It doesn't surprise me all that much. There are just going to be many times where people tend to take the most extreme way out and obviously in their demented mind, they may have thought that they were doing their child a favor by sparing them from this world.
