Playing 4 - 5 - 6 string bases.

I have a bunch of bass guitars in the house, and like to play them everyday, one by one. I have all the equipment I need. I've spent time playing guitar for a long time; therefore, I have a good knowledge of the neck and good technique. I'm playing bass exclusively with fingers, never use a pick. I do have a problem on my hands. It is a very hard decision to say what I preferred best. The Bass or a guitar. That "multi-instrumental" thing is a big problem here.. I wonder if there is someone with a similar 'problem'. If so, how do you deal with it?

A bass player who plays regularly normally develops the necessary muscles in the left hand and suitable callouses on the right fingers to be able to play without pain or discomfort. Most right hand bass technique is usually completely different from finger-style guitar. The fingers are generally straight and rigid rather than curved and the style is much more 'press and release' than 'pluck', if you see what I mean, though I have seen some bass players use a finger-style guitar technique. If you have a consistent problem with the strength of the fingers of the right hand or soreness on the pads, perhaps you should consider using a pick.

Thanx for your input my friend, however, you did not seem to get what I meant by stating "I have a problem ON MY hands" (LOL) ... It meant, I have "a problem with THAT" --- to decide what instrument I like best to play. You didn't read properly what I had to say. Give it a try again to read, what I said. I do not have any problems WITH my hands whatsoever. I've been at the bass and guitar playing for years. I am an accomplished player, not a beginner. Thank you for your expertise, anyway. Some multi instrumentalists play 3-4 musical instruments without any problems to deal with, and here I am, having a "private mental problem" to "deal" with two instruments,..- to decide which one I like best. You know what I mean? Have a great day.
