My 9 year olds birthday is comming up soon, and he wants to invite some of his friends from school. What kind of party games do you think that age group would enjoy? It will be a mixed of boy and girl party, any suggestions? And just to get a more indepth discussion do you have any funny stories from childrens birthday parties? any disasters? Thanks

Well easy games like hot potato is good. You just play music and when it stops the person holding it is out, its kind of like musical chairs but a little different. You can also play musical chairs if you have enough chairs that is. Umm those are the easiest games i know for childrens games inside the house. If you can play some outside i would do the water ballon toss and then the spong toss game. The sponge toss game is easy just get four buckets and then two teams line up and four people will play one on each side of the bucket and then two buckets are filled with water and those two people standing behind those buckets will get there sponges wet and toss to the other person standing across from them and that person will squeeze the water out into there bucket and the team that has the most water in the bucket wins and the game will continue till there iso nly one winner. Pretty easy and not to expensive and a good game for kids to play.

I figure hot potatoe might be a little childish for most of the kids there (I'm not sure if it would or not) My children love musical chairs and that will be an option for them. Unfortunatly the weather is not suitable for any outside water games but they are good suggestions for my summer babies birthday party!

Before you ask for some suggestion, I would like to ask you something. How much is your budget for the birthday party? Because the kind of party you do have depends on how much is your budget. If you do have too much money, You might try to contact a party organizer wherein you are not going to prepare anything for the birthday.

I am trying to keep costs down as much as possible. A party organizer is definatly over budget. Just looking for small games the kids could play for little prizes

Party games: Pinata! Always fun and it is inexpensive if you have the time to make it your self. That age group enjoys anything that keeps them active (running around and being loud haha). If you have any theme it would be easier to say what kind of games they could play (so that they would be relevant to the theme - like for alien party ( http://funhouse.hubpages.com/hub/Alien-theme-party ) the "easiest" related fun activity is simply Frisbee (and I know children love it) - you just turn it into something more meaningful - like the flying disk is an UFO and it must not crash land if it does the kid who didn't catch it has to do something or does not participate in the game until there is only one child left - and that one is given an alien savior medal or something. If you would have a medieval theme you could have archery contest (with rubber arrows naturally)

Paper dance, trip to Jerusalem, guessing game. These are the most common games I know for kids. And for sure they will enjoy these too.
