Do you still drink 8 glasses of water a day?

I was just wondering if everyone here still follows the "8 glasses of water" a day routine to keep ourselves cleansed and healthy. Honestly, I sometimes forget to drink water and I barely follow that routine. But recently, I was hospitalized because I needed to be rehydrated..

The rehydration worked well.. :) I feel a lot better now and I am used to drinking water as well. Who wouldn't get used to it if you're forced to drink 4 liters of water a day in a hospital.. LOL!

I drink when I'm thirsty; I eat when I'm hungry; I sleep when I'm tierd. I've managed to live for nearly 70 years without following all the daft advice that comes out on diets/food/drink. It is said you can die from drinking too much water. Eggs are good for you one year and bad for you the next. Butter is out of fashion and then in again. Etc. Etc. If you live long enough it all comes round full circle.

No doubt about it, water is good for the system. But 8 glasses = 4 pints! I'm up for a wee four times a night as it is but if drank half a gallon a day I might just as well take my pillow to the loo!

water is most important think for our body . water played many role in our body like its protect our skin, kidney and many other organs. As i know if you drink more water then defiantly have very rare chance of getting UTI infection because its protect from it .. Water maintain your skin and keep it healthy and also you look more younger and fresh .. If you drink less amount of water then defiantly have risk of many disease specially related with kidney ..So try to drink more water in day at least 4 to 5 liters in day .. As peopled said and book also said everything is in limit like water drinking also in limit if you drink more then 8 liters then you defiantly have disease that called water intoxication. its not like one or two day your more then 8 liters then you have disease but you must long history for taking water more then 8 litters .. Keep MY LOTTING ....

Well honestly I think that I am not drinking enough water that my body needs. I can say that I am drinking more than 8 glasses of water per day, however, my body releases too much sweat than normal and I think that my water intake is not compensating the losses. I think that water intake should be assessed with an individual's body mechanism. Those who do more activities and sweat more needs a lot of water compared to those who doesn't sweat that much. My work entails me to work in an entirely hot area and water intake is very critical to cope up with the heat. With this line of work, I think that my hydration plan, even if it seems to be already ok for normal person water intake, isn't enough for my body's need. Now I am taking in sports drink to quench my thirst and replenish my water in the body.

I don't really count the number of glasses I intake but I know that at an average, I exceed that figure. When the doctor says 8 glasses of water, it does not neccessarily pertain to water alone but to any liquid we intake, that includes soup, juice or anything that contains fluid.

I am quite sure that my doctor was certain with the word "water" not juice not soup.. just "water." I was drinking a lot of sweets like juices but my doctor said it doesn't count, it should've been PURE WATER.. and now.. I usually finish 4 liters of water a day..

I don't drink 8 glasses of water but I do drink atleast 3 or 4 bottles of water a day. I get dehydrated alot because of my heart condition so I try to keep up on drinking water. I'm a soda person and so i'm trying to back off that and try drinking water and juice. But if i do drink soda its always diet soda. I don't drink much of it during the week while at work though i strictly stay to drinking just water. But may splurge and have a bottle of soda. Water is good for you!

I have to admit that I don't drink enough water. I do try to drink some water every day, but it's not something that I do enough of. I really should do it a lot more than I actually do.

It's really hard at first, but when you get used to it, you wont even notice that you drank that much water already. There's nothing wrong with trying.. :) Happy mylotting

Yes I do still follow that routine although it is not necessarily "8 glasses". Just approximately 8 glasses. Does not matter whether I go further. Well now you experienced it first hand what it does to you if you do not take that amount of water daily. Water is free else cheap so try to get much of it. Take care then, hope you are well.

Hi chiepao, I am quite sure I am in the minority responding to this post, But I have never drank 8 glasses of water a day. I am aware that we should drink water but I just never was fond of water...I maybe drink 3 glasses total of water per month.... I drink a lot of powdered ice tea summer and winter, but its about the most water I get... I don't drink soda, coffee, milk, just the tea and thats my water intake...

I think it is true that some or even many of us would forget or be too lazy to drink enough water till they feel thirsty or uncomfortable. I have to admit that it is a bad habit. Fortunately, I eat a lot of vegetable every day, which would supplement some of the lacked water. Thanks for your question, and it is indeed a very good reminding for us all to take care of oursevles. Good luck.

That's good if you eat a lot of vegetables in a day, atleast you're sure you're getting the nutrients that your body need. Do take care of yourself as well. :)

Each day, I have a one gallon jug of water with me and drink from that. I didn't always drink so much water, but I was getting busier, working harder, and getting bigger from lifting weights, so I needed more water. When I started drinking that much water, it would take me a day to drink an entire gallon. Now, I go through at least 2 a day. Sometimes, I have one next ot me whenever I need something to drink, but I find that if I take a full jug of water with me to bed, by the morning, it would be empty. I didn't know I was drinking that much water. I guess, the bigger I got, and the harder I worked, that one gallon felt like it was getting smaller.
