Tissue cardboad rolls can be useful

Have you ever wondered how we could make use of things that may seem useless? Every few days, an emtpy tissue roll(the cardboard) is disposed of in the house. I find it a waste and was wondering how I could actually make use of them. At first I though that I should try making a mice playground. At a certain time of the day, I would let the mice out onto this playground where they could just run around, up and down, through a tunnel, etc but if I would to make that, it would consume too much space in the house. I have to collect dozens of empty tissue rolls before I would achieve that. So I though of another project and came up with a bird's house. I live in a 3 story house with the 3rd floor being a roofdeck. I would need a couple dozen of empty tissue rolls and then just have to place it there. When breeding season comes, I am sure a bird looking for a nesting place will come around. For the construction. I would put the rolls together by a glue gun and then paint the whole thing so that they would harden. Of course emtpy tissue rolls can weaken if wet and I do not want that to happen. I have less problems with that since we have a small roof at the roofdeck. Wind blowing in rain would be the problem. So what do you people think? How about helping me out here with suggestions or ideas specially on the waterproof part

When I was into various crafts I used to paint cardboard with hobby glue, it does seal what ever to be waterproff to a point and if you paint over it as well it should do the trick...

my Tissue covered boxes - my tissue covered boxes sealed with glue.
hobby glue is about the cheapest glue you can get, schools usually use it and you can even delute it a bit with just a little bit of water, usually goes on white cloudy coloured but dries clear...I used to tear up coloured tissue paper and stick it on boxes and then cover it all with this glue a few times and it seals it all.
