We have a laptop at home bought in the middle of 2007. It works so hard, as it use everyday for work, school projects, computer games and before during Sundays for church service. It is an MSI brand laptop. This 2012, it started to show signs of aging. When you open it you will hear hissing sound. Now it gets louder when you open it. this time too, I have to unplug then plug again for about 5 times before it will finally open. Its gets hot easily also. What could be the problem with this laptop it never had a problem before only when its charger suddenly give up and sparks as it cord is already expose or had some breaks.

HI your laptop is very tired and needs to be checked, you could start already by cleaning it inside with a wacum cleaner to take all the dust out of it, check the fan, check how to clean well all your useless files to make it lighter, use a softwear for cleaning pc to give speed...copy your HD and install a new one....maybe...or just buy a new one!

run to the store and buy some canned air. Spray out the inside of the vents of your laptop. Its most likely that your computer is working hard because it is full of dust. You can pick up a new charger at most electronics stores. I have a laptop from 2005 that still runs quite well. It really just sounds to me like its working too hard to cool if the canned air fails to work you can buy a cooling pad to place under it that has fans under it.

I would say you are almost due a new one. You might be able to take it and get it fixed but if you want updated software, you might have to replace it. That is actually a good long while for a laptop. I am pushing 3 years with mine and so far so good.
