Notice a trend in politics around election time?

Not only is the news focusing more on the wrong issues about the candidates, so does the discussion here. It's like a big glaring reminder of how all of politics and basically congress ceases to much more than focus on elections than getting anything done. And I see the stock market is down today, it reminds me of the rhetoric I heard 3 years ago about people and businesses not investing in uncertain times. Well perhaps this uncertainty of who the next president will be and then what legislation he might actually pass. Perhaps our election obsession is beating up the economy every 4 years as well as distracting us from the issues we should be focusing on.

I agree, it seems like we are in a election every year. That is probably because we are. Why do these candidates need to start campaigning so far out from their election date. Look at the GOP Presidential race. It has been going on for nearly 6 months. What things have we learned new from month 6 that these candidates said in month 1 of their campaign. My point is, they are pretty much saying the same things except now all they are doing is bashing each other. All this money they are wasting just talking nonsense about one an other. When we could be putting that money to good use like creating jobs, fixing infrastructure and education. Then not only that it gets the public going how everything in this country is messed up and who can we blame for it. This is where all the uncertainty comes from.

I agree, if we put half as much money and effort into fixing things as we did into campaigning evert few years we probably wouldn't be in the mess we're in now. And to make it worse, we they get a candidate in no one seems to pay much mind except to gripe about the president, and lobby for things unrelated to any of the original issues. I can at least say, despite all the other garbage, Obama did do 2 things. He reduced our military overseas, and he attempted to address the economic crisis, and health care issues. It might not have fixed everything but it was a step in the right direction. And he at least addressed the right issues.
