Nasty Disgusting

I went to the bathroom here at the library. This one very obese lady had the bathroom stall door open using the bathroom. The library is a public place. You have parents with kids coming here. I find it very nasty and disgusting when you refuse to close the bathroom door leaving everyone to see your private parts because your too fat and lazy and love to gross everyone out! The door that the lady was in does close. She is just way to nasty and vulgar doing that when a mother and her child or children can walk in and see that. She should be told "if you want to use the bathroom here, you need to close the bathroom door or you will have to leave for good!"

How realistic you are ! You are right, it is not normal to let a bathroom door opened in a public place. And if it is not normal, maybe this lady has a deterioration in her judgment and was needing a bit of help instead of comments ? You don't need to be obese or old to be stuck by a light form of dementia, and if you are suffering from dementia tomorrow, you will probably continue to go to your public library. Next time, make a good deed : help her to close the door, even if she tells you she does not care.

I actually read that reading and doing puzzles, etc. is suppose to be one way to help keep dementia from progressing at a more rapid rate. It is not possible to stop this disease yet, but keeping the mind active is supposed to help slow the progression of it. Therefore, going to the library would be exactly what someone with this sort of disease should be doing, although as you pointed out they might need a little assistance from time to time (given by kind and caring people, of course) to help them make sure that their decisions are appropriate.

You might be right that she did not understand what she saw, and there could be a number of reasons for what happened. Unfortunately, I believe that the discussion starter is also focusing on the wrong thing. I read another discussion started by this same person stating that there is no reason for overweight people to be lazy and not close the bathroom door. She seems to be fixated on the weight more than anything else, and that is what I think her real issue is with this.

It is said to help, but intellectuals are also suffering from dementia. I remember a great scientist who had dementia after he retired and was still going to international colloquia. There was nothing more sad than to see people not knowing him laughing when he was saying something stupid : he was one of the best in his domain in the past, and he did probably more for it than those who were laughing will ever do together. People suffering from dementia don't realize it : you will not teach the way to the library to a donkey, but somebody knowing it will continue to go to the library... I am not a great scientist but I have met enough great scientists to know that dementia is an obsessive fear for many of them. My thoughts are that the starter of this discussion did not understood what she saw.

I agree with others your description of her is horrible. It makes you seem just as bad as the woman you were condeming. Now that being said I know how it is to write something in the heat of the moment and while you were just trying to be as graphic as possible it comes across horrible. I would ask had she been a hot built beautful woman would you have had the same reaction? If so would you have described her as disgusting as you did this woman or would have you just explained the sitution..I agree I think it is horrbile when anyone is in a public stall and leaves the door open while conducting private business. I would say she either was mentally ill perhaps or just didnt know better. There are people out there who do dont. I am a guy and I find it horrible when I see a DAd bring his little girl into a mens room that is filled with men. I dont care how you try and shield her she sees things she shouldnt. Most go into a stall at least but I have seen them have the girl hold onto there leg while they are at the urninal and the little girl is of course looking up and down. So it can be bad decision making on both sides. So Ill give you the benefit of the doubt that you were just hopped up mad and not painting all Obese people with the same stroke..

I was thinking the same thing. And it might be gross, or catch you off guard, but exposing herself? Thats a lot tougher of a term than it is to just be leaing the door open.

I was mad when I wrote it and could have worded it differently. It is just than when you go to the bathroom, who really needs to watch anyone do their business? Weight really has nothing to do with it.

I read the other responses, so I will not get into your description or the fact that she might not have been able to close the door.
I must admit, though, that it surprises me that you would get so clear a picture of this woman if she was using the handicapped stall. Usually, they are the biggest stalls and therefore are at the far end of the restroom ... the very last stall, in fact, so you would not need to walk past it to get to another stall. In addition, the door is usually off to the side, since they are larger and longer than the other stalls, with the toilet set back behind the wall, so the door being open would just reveal a wall and not the toilet or person sitting on it.

I guess what i don't understand is why it bothers you so much. Did it ever occur to you that she may have had the runs and in an attempt to keep from soiling herself she hurried and sat down forgetting to lock the door.
I guess my question is if you saw her sitting on the can why were you trying to look at her private parts anyway. I know that if i walk in on someone using the can i don't gawk at their stuff.
I find your approach in poor taste, instead of confronting the situation by asking if it is okay to shut the door you decide to go online and tell everyone how disgusted you are about this person.
Now what really makes me sick is that your using mylot to air your personal experience over more then one discussion. Did I not read something similar to this already in another discussion. Your 4 years older then I am if I was you I would act like it.

if you are a thin person now, wait until you get older, your weight will increase and there will be nothing you can do about it, even if you diet and exercise, it won't work, i think you have a bad attitude towards "large" people, like one of our posters said, would you complain if this was a thin cute girl with the door open, be careful what you wish for friend, i do agree that the lady should have closed the door whilst using the toilet, but you could have gone about this in a different way, she may have a hormone problem and cannot help being big...

Actually, Desertrose, there are overweight people that cannot lose weight no matter how hard they try. Yes, their weight might fluctuate a little bit and they might be able to shed a few pounds, but they will never be a "normal" weight due to hormone problems, certain medical conditions and other factors that may or may not be readily noticeable by just looking at them. Of course, this does not apply to every overweight person, but I think it is unfair to keep saying that all overweight people can lose the weight if they want to.

I am over weight myself. If you are, there is no reason why anyone who is cannot lose weight! I have lost weight and continue to lose weight! I know people who have.

It is wrong yet I feel this woman who was sitting in the stall with it open is likely mentally ill. The heavy lady sounds like my obese neighbor who I am avoiding cuz she disrespected me lol..
It's wrong to degrade people. We can end up like them. I'm sorry the kid was likely traumatized, crap happen lol.. This kid could have it worse. 1 day this child will likely grow up and laugh about it. I would have quickly shut the ladies stall and have my kid stand behind me. I'm glad the parent was watching the child. Some people have issues and don't know any better like this stall sqwuatter.

I agree that it's sick how you act. As if it's because of her weight that she does those things. It's not like that all obese people have this habit.

You are right. I know not everyone does that. There was more than enough room for her to close the door.

Yuck, You are right that is disgusting and not good manners at all. I would be grossed out as well. It is also considered vulgar to me. Ladies, no matter what size can still hold some etiquette. But maybe she feels to closed in when she closes the door. If she is that big it might also me hard for her to open and close it while she is in there.

I have to agree with a lot of other people here, your discription of her is pretty mean. I do agree that you should close the door when using a pulic bathroom and esspecially in a place like a library. But we have no idea why she did what she did, maybe there was something wrong with her? I don't know but I agree with the fact that doors should be closed.

I doubt anyone has ever walked in on her, of if they had the librarians were over told about it. I would definitely tell the librarians about it becuse they need to know. This woman is in a public building doing vulgar things. She should have shut the bathroom door or if she thought she may have trouble shutting it she should have waited until she got home or went home to do her business instead of leaving the door open at the library.

First of all, I'm kind of more disgusted than someone actually willingly used a public restroom. I try and avoid it if I can and I don't know what's been sitting on that toilet, or what's been done on that toilet. Then again, if this person was going to leave the door open, bathroom cleanliness might not be high on her priority list.
Still kind of disgusting, whether you're fat, thin, average, short, tall, conjoined twins using that toilet, I don't care. No one wants to see someone taking care of business on the toilet. Well some people might as there are all sorts out there, but that's beside the point. Then again, given the nature of some of those bathrooms, who really knows what else could have been going on in there.

I don't think it matters what her size is, she should not be doing that either way. A grown woman should know better than that. No child should be seeing a stranger's private parts. I think someone should let someone who works there know because maybe they will put a stop to it!

No one, child or adult needs to see anyone else going to the bathroom. Overweight or not.

First of all: I find the way you talk about overweighted people very nasty and disgusting!
It's not about if a person is thin or fat but about the fact there are people who leave the bathroom door open while in.
I am sure there are plenty of people with that habbit and they are not all fat or lazy!
Or do you mean if it's a very gorgeous beautiful girl/woman you don't mind to see her private parts?

I apologize. I just find it bad that this person cannot close the door when no one needs to see anyone go to the bathroom. Everyone has things wrong but that is no excuse. I have things wrong with me just like everyone. I still do things. If you want to keep your bathroom door open, do not do it in a public place. How do you know if a guy is not going to walk in even by mistake and see that. I have walked in bathrooms with guys in the women's bathroom.

First, grown ups should know better. No matter how much you weigh. In a public place where anyone can and has walked in, even people in wheel chairs have closed the door and locked it behind them. I don't want anyone watching me going to the bathroom. Unless you have no hands and no way of locking the door behind you, there is absolutely no reason why any bathroom door should not be locked when your going to the bathroom. Weight does not matter here!

One more thing, I am overweight too. So don't get mad at me. I don't find her weight offensive. I find the fact the she will not close the bathroom door behind her offensive!

that was indeed very nasty and inappropriate for her to do that kind of thing..exposing herself and private parts to people coming in and using the bathroom..she should be told how to do it properly..did anybody tell her? her obesity is definitely not an excuse for her to do it..i wouldn't want to see anyone like that when i come and use the bathroom.

But you would have liked to see a gorgeous young woman expose herself?
Who says she was exposing herself?
Sounds to me the writer of this discussion was just (trying) to make this story more alive as it was in reality. BTW there is no reason for you to look if you don't like to see it. You can also leave and give that lady a break/the chance to do what she needs to do without peeping people around her.
