Appreciation, is it shown enough?

Read in the news today about an Aussie bus company boss who surprises all his employees by giving away $15m in bonuses. The employees are overwhelmed with gratitude; however, the boss insisted that it was them who deserve some decent thank you after years of dedication working at the company he sold after 66 years. Heart warming indeed to read about such generosity and appreciation; especially in these days when employees are often felt unaknowledged by their bosses.

That was a true story from 5 years ago - I can't remember the name of the company though...

If this really happened and not just a make up story by some online bloggers, I can say that it is such great act, most company bosses/owners are earning so much and haven't even think of giving back to those people, their employees, that in little ways helps them achieve what they've achieved with their business. Because of what he has done for sure those employees will appreciate the boss more and will work harder for the company. It always feel good reading such a nice news like this.

I hope more company owners are like this man. Giving back just a small percentage of their money to their employees can already help many employees so much.

I wish more people would think that when they give more, they'll gain more. Some are so afraid they'll have less when they have to share with others. Or they think it is because of merely their own efforts that they have wealth; so they think no one else deserve any part of it but themselves.

It really did happen; that's why I was quite moved by the story.

That's really magnanimous of him. There are really a lot of bosses or company owners who have forgotten that the employees are the lifeblood of any company. And that it's not enough to just pay them their wages. Their work should also be appreciated if it deserves appreciation. It doesn't necessarily have to be in the form of money. There are lots of ways that a boss could show his appreciation for the employees' dedication and hard work. I hope a lot of bosses out there would emulate what this person has done :)

Yes, the employees were emotional when they found out he's leaving the company. It's certainly not just all about the bonus; but he's really well loved because he's always looked after his employees and treated them like family. The new owners would have a lot to live up to.

a few of employers of today really know how to appreciate and value their workers especially that oftentimes they merely regard them as a means to achieve their company's end. most employees are short of a kindred heart from their bosses. it's quite great to know that you actually touch on a topic that few only would be aware about considering that, in our new era, where virtually everything is about competition, some people, most especially those on the higher level forget that the most important resources are human beings themselves. one great move for giving them a reward system. it helps one way or another to reach out to them that somehow their efforts are very much being valued and highly regard. thumbs up those bosses who could in themselves to being one.

And owners or bosses of successful companies should always remember that they would not be able to achieve such achievement without dedicated employees.

Although I hesitate to believe this right away, I would think that it was a great show appreciation by the boss. I hope that if he was rich enough, and just wanted to give his wealth away, he also gave some to charity. And if he did, then this act of generosity wouldn't sound so out of place.

Wow. That is a lot of money. That is what we called a 'good karma' because the employees are very loyal to the company they are working for, as a result, their boss gave them a bonuses that overwhelmed everyone in the company. I think, the boss in the company is indeed very rich. $15m? That is a lot of money.

Wow. $8k bonus... $30k... How I wish I had that money in my bank account so that I could use it for my education. He he he Anyway, that is another good thing when working in the company, outside from home. You could get a bonus from our boss and not only that, a money is paid hourly and every month unlike online, well, all we have to do is trying hard to reach minimum pay out. All I want to say is that they are so lucky to have a good and generous boss in their company

And the bonus was a surprise too. The employees didn't expect it coming; so some of them are reduced to tears when they found out the money in their bank account. Apparently some of them could really use the bonus to help with their urgent needs.

Yes, the boss is rich but above all he is generous and look after all of his thousands employees. They received an average of $8k bonus with some as high as $30k depending on length of employment.

Is this the Appreciation of the boss that you are referring to? Or, the appreciation of the employee for what the boss did. I do believe the fact that there are some employer who doesn't appreciate the existence of their employee. A Christmas Party thrown by the company is also a way to show appreciation towards the employee.

Well, it goes both ways. The generous gesture by the boss to show his appreciation towards his employees were returned with gratitude & further appreciation by the employees. Nice story all around.
