The groundhog saw his shadow today--what does that mean this winter?

Well, furry Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow today, which, according to folklore, means 6 more weeks of winter. Historically, that means six more weeks of snow, ice, cold weather and all of that. However, this year the winters in Phil's neck of the woods (Pennsylvania) have been uncharacteristically mild. In fact yesterday it hit 70 + degrees in some parts of PA.
So what does Phil's prediction mean, do you think? Cold weather is coming or that we will have 6 more weeks of mild, warm and green days? (That's what I'm hoping for, by the way!)

Well here in Florida we might be asking for some Weather like we have been having. Around 65 in the morning and between 75-80 in the afternoon. This is graet weather for us and we like to enjoy it as well.
Im glad of what happened today because it means if it does get cold its going to be nice for us and we can actually wear some more winter clothes and wear jeans.

I would love that weather too--but not your summers! Maybe you'll get one or two cold days and then you can go back to enjoying your beautiful weather!

Here has been weirdly warm too. I noticed though this summer and last...our "Summer" weather came in august rather than june/july...so I wonder if our winter type weather will be popping up in February rather than January.
I have been loving that winter is warmer though !

Me too--love not having to wear a heavy coat and gloves all winter long!

Apparently, the Staten Island groundhog said early spring. I don't know--I think unfortunately Phil might be right. Here in NJ, it was 71 degrees on Feb 1st, and after Phil saw his shadow, it's been in the 30s & 40s the rest of this week.
