My daughter goes to school during the day for a few hours, and I'm looking for some things for us to go and do during the week in the afternoons. Sometimes we will go to the park (when weather permits), library or play areas, but I'm looking for more ideas for things for us to do. I'm looking for free or low cost activites that we could go and do. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

I don't know if you have one near you, here they are not expensive but taking your little one to paint some ceramics is so much fun! I did it when I was younger and I always had a blast with it. They have so many different ones you can do. Also, if there is a rainy day and you just want to stay inside for a day, I have set up an obstacle course for my kids and they LOVE it! I put chairs where they have to crawl under, a jump rope they have to jump over, a tent for them to crawl through, and throw bean bags into a laundry basket. Oh my goodness, it is easy and fun! And you just use things from around the house so it is not expensive at all. Just a couple ideas for you, hope it helps! =)

My kids are (still) happy with nothing. It's not about where we are going but how we are going, what we are doing in between. So if we walk we make a game out of it (search for ... things starting with the letter K) now they are older I let them make pictures from it. Going to the supermarket is like a day out for them as well. It's the same with searching for special stones. We also spend afternoons creating things (paiting, making a chines dragon, a dolls house, baking cookies, etc etc).

Hi mrsgoodygoody, if you check in your local newspaper in the entertainment section they normally have lots of things of interest to do and especially with children, but you should be albe to get some ideas there... Nothing beats the out of doors and library when the weather cooperates. Hopefully that time will be here shortly in a few months....
