Yesterday I had two friends over. One was my very best friend, Humberto, husband of the friend I consider as loved as a sister. The other was his cousin who is a lawyer and is helping me out with some legal problems that have to do with some money that a friend left me in her will.
I had found some papers that proved that there was more money at the Bank that what I thought there was so we celebrated. They are full of stories and as they grew up together they behave like kids
.
I made some nice salads for them with cold cuts and they brought me some awesome wine that we proceeded to drink. I also had a homemade plum syrup that I turn into a beverage and it ended with real colombian coffee.
How do you entertain when it´s too warm to be cooking at the kitchen? Share!

Hiya margi,
Very nice to hear about your Friends and the good time they had at your place. It´s nice when People are full of Stories about different things I love that more than eating actually.
Not the first time I have forgotten my Dinner almost listening to someone else.
Great news about the Money for you gal so glad for you.xxx
Salads are taboo in this House not because of me but because they just don´t want to eat them right now although it´s way below freezing too.xxx

My two friends are nuts about reading history books and they know every small detail about the world wars. One of them told us about a trip he had made to Stalingrad ( in Russia) so as to imagine better how it had all been. I remember that when I went to Europe the first time I understood history in quite another way. We are so acostumed here in America to great areas that we cannot imagine well other ways of living.

Hiya margi,
Nuts about History books? Yes they can be very entertaining and Documentaries as well. We quite often watch something with History in it instead of the usual Junk Films they put on here.
Yesterday was watching "Pearl Harbour" for a while and thinking about all the History of that so sad and so cruel that I had to stop watching it as I was not in the mood for sad Films although I know they are true in that sense.
Russia is so full of enigmas margi I would not know the truth from the other I suppose only the People who actually live there know whatever goes on.
I find Russia to be very interesting and I love watching their Ice Skaters above all as they are really fantastic above all Irina Slutskaya who turned her adversity into personal power and won Medal after Medal wonderful stuff margi just wonderful.xxx

Hiya margi,
You only have to know a little bit about Spain to and to realize what went on here not so long back to understand that it was not all Sunshine and Flowers far from it.
A lot of People from South America have returned to their own Country as they felt really let down by Spain and all its promises.
I know of some who were given the Keys to their Flats and a Job but the Mortgage was nearly as high as their meagre Wages and they had to give back the Keys and leave their Job such a terrible shame this should never happen but us the ordinary People here have no control about what goes on at that level.
Why they treat them so is another enigma for me.
Guess I will never work that one out.xxx

Hi marguicha, I love to have a couple of my friends over and we do
a little something...My friends and I are so close, just name it and
we will try to celebrate it...
Even tho its not summer here and is as cold as 40 some degrees, to
cold for outside entertaining, we still do things inside and have
fun...However I would love to have some of that warm weather right
about now....
Salads are great meal alone...recently I have gotten on this
salad kick...and in the last 2 weeks I know I have purchased 10 heads
of lettuce...and I have three heads in the fridge now...I have
been eating salads every day sometimes 3 times a day...and I swear
they are the best....LOL....

I love salads too. And now that I have my own arugule to add to lettuce, it´s even better. I have been eating a lot of raw zuchinni salad too. It´s awesome!

Soups are the best for me when it´s cold. And I love salads on warm weather. I specially like minestrones and potato soup when it´s cold. But I also have broth around and bring a mug near my computer to heat my hands.
During Summer I cook a lot of chicken for cold cuts and freeze the broth for cold weather

I struggled with the issue of trying to figure out what to cook when I lived in a hot and humid climate. Of course, I didn't entertain there, so I didn't have to worry about trying to prepare food for anyone other than myself and my boyfriend in that cramped kitchen.
Pasta salad is always a good go-to for hot days, and it is a good way to get some veggies in. Sandwiches are good, too. Cantaloupe sliced in half and served with salad in the center (chicken, pasta, seitan or other) is another good hot weather option.

For us, it is either a barbeque in the backyard or we will make various salads to eat because neither of those are things that will heat up the house.
My favorite way to make a salad to share with friends is either a salad with a lot of tomatos and avocados, some cheese and a raspberry vinegarette dressing or else I will make a seven layer salad that is a more hearty salad that you can use as a complete meal.

You bring the salad, I just made barbacue chicken leg quarters for our dinner.
I love salads. Can't hardly get the hubby to eat them.
I like that we can add so much variety of veggies in it.
just remember not to add to much dressing on them.
Was watching Dr Oz the other day and he said if you poor on dressing and you see it sink to the bottom of your salad bowl you definately have added to much.
have to admit I do like my dressing with my salad.
But I am dieting so now I know what not to do.
Hope you enjoyed your salad.
Sorry I can't share mine with my chicken with you

I don´t put dressing on salads beforehand. I let everyone to put whatever they want on their plates. That way, if there´s some left, I can save it for the next day. I usually just make a dressing for my salad with oil, salt, pepper and lemon or vinegar. But some slads ask for other things. When there are lots of people I make some dressings to put on saucers. I never buy salad dressing though.

I love salads but just the macaroni or the fruit salad. Am not in to vegetable salad much but I also like potato salad. It's alright for me for whatever season but really it's good to entertain friends with salad during summer.
