commercials on TV

United States

I live in The United States and we have a lot of commercial during tV programming. Some of them are a little too much. There is a Charmin Toilet Paper one, with bears, that I feel is just a little bit too delicate if you know what I mean. And there is another one for Depends (adult diapers). There is uplifting music and a female who is tossing her hair around feeling safe and secure and full of life because of her protection. It's too much. We know why females use Depends. We do not need beautiful music to sell it or a female tossing her head around with a satisfied grin on her face. I wonder what it is like in other countries. What kind of commercials do you have on your TV programming. Do you have toilet paper and adult diapers commercials? How about other Americans? How do you feel about some of the commercials on TV? Have you seen the Charmin ads or the Depends ads?

I've seen the commercials you are talking about and while I agree with you to some extent, I find the one for the baby diapers where they are treating it like a beauty pageant with realistic looking cartoon babies coming on stage, turning their backsides to the judges and the winner is the one who can fill the diaper up the most in one big whatever you want to call it. I think that is just plain distasteful.

I had forgotten about the baby diapers. I think it has been pulled from the air. And it was one of the most disgusting and distasteful commercials of all time. Who comes up with these ideas? There are awards for the best commercials known as The ADDYS. But they should offer a category for the worst commercials and for the most distasteful.

It is still running. It was on just a couple of days ago when I was eating lunch; a really bad time for it to be on.

There are a few that get on my last nerve like the one for men so he can take something to be "ready" for that special moment. I think it's not one that kids should be seeing...or asking questions about later.

I disagree with a lot of the commercials that are out there. How about that Luvs diaper one where the babies are having a contest to see who can fill their diaper the most without it all popping out?? It's a cartoon, but still on the disgusting side if you ask me. Marsha

To honestly say what I think about commercials, they are the reason that I have a DVR in my home. I absolutely can't stand watching commercials. However, the ones that make me the most aggrevated are the ones where the voice over people sound like they are yelling at you. It is simple, either you are going to buy a product or service or your aren't but having someone yell at you is not going to convince you to buy something.

Hi bostonphil, yes I totally agree with you about a lot of the commericials here in the states...I have seen the 2 that you memtioned and neither one of them really offends me at all..I have honestly see a lot worst commercials than those...But its just my opinion.. Some of commercials are really out of control...A lot of them have me scratching my head in dismay...its like where on earth did someone come up with these ides... But oh well, we can complain and complain, then what??? \
