What do you think of my decision?

Last year I decided that I am not going to do any more surveys. I find them terribly irritating because I do get surveys asking me the same questions over and over again. The surveys take up half a day (I signed up to a number of survey companies so sometimes I do get a lot) and sometimes they ask the same 50 questions. I cant tell if the time and effort is worth what they pay. What about you? Do you enjoy doing surveys? If you do, do tell me why.. Thanks

I agree with you mostly. I still do some surveys, but I have dropped a lot of survey companies that I used to deal with because I wasted a lot of time on surveys and being disqualified before completion. There are a couple I do that pay me in my Paypal account the following day. One of them only sends surveys that you qualify for. They both have been great. I think of surveys in the same way one thinks of running a business. I try to maximize the income I make in my survey taking time. I really drop the survey companies that don't pay enough, only offer sweepstake entries or horrible prizes, and ones where you don't qualify for the survey 99% of the time.

I wish I can do what you do. Its very clever the way you maximize the income you make in your survey taking time. I can never remember which companies gave me how much. If I am desperate and have to continue, I will take the time to jot down the details. When I stop there are a few surveys that need a little more points to redeem for cash. I totally agree with those which offer only sweepstake entries. There is one which I think is not short of monetary sense yet they still offer such a reward. Such a ripoff! BTW about qualifying, I tried what one mylotter did which was to input that you earn above $4000 per month. Read on what I wrote above your box what i think of that. They're silly!

I sometimes take surveys at Amazon turk. You are right, some surveys contain 50 questions and that is too annoying. Most questions end up looking the same because the maker of the survey has to make sure that the population taking part in it are little controlled by them. I had to make survey questions for my marketing research classes. Trust me, it is one of the toughest jobs. Too many things must be considered when making the questions. At one point, to avoid any mistakes, all of us students having almost similar questions on our survey papers. I hate it. It is annoying for everyone. Statisticians should now come up with different approach.

Yes they should come up with something different. It sounds interesting this marketing research class. I only read here and there through the internet and a few of my friends, I am surprised that to market a product, there is a formula you can follow. Am I right? Through what I have learnt, your product has to be intriging at first and then after your 'fish' is hooked, you have to play it cool, to be 'suspenseful'. It seems very manupulating but I dun mind if the product is very good. If its not then its a diffrent story.

Yep, that marketing research class was a requirement for me in order to get that marketing concentration include in my bachelor degree certificate. The class was horrible. The textbook was way the size of Mt. Everest and had lots of statistics. Oh, it was called quantitative marketing research. To be honest, I still don't understand what I studied over there. But I had to make the surveys for not only that class but also another marketing class called product and pricing. It was my waste of money because I had to print out the surveys. There were more than 100 of them and each had more than 2 pages. It is like in marketing they have a huge number of survey question structures. One is called scale where the survey taker has to mark his or her opinion at a rate of 1 to 10. I am sure you saw them. And then they have other structures consisted of answers such as never, sometimes, moderately, too many times and so on. I had to memorize all of it for tests and it made me feel sick inside. The funny thing is that I know from experience and like you said survey questions get boring. But we were told in the class and by the textbook to reject those surveys whose answers didn't seem reliable. They just have this weird concept called "validity". If the result from the first survey does not seem right we were asked to restart surveying people. And then another nonsense job comes which is like entering each person's answer on the computer. It yields to some graphs from which the marketers have to come up with conclusions and decisions. You just brought up that product thing. It reminded me of how one of our marketing professors tried to make us go for him door to door to get answers for his surveys. In return he said he would give us extra credit. The survey questions were based on some German detergent. He was researching on whether people liked it in USA. When I saw the questions I yawned. Each had more than 5 pages. Some of my friends agreed to fill them up for me. Others rejected. Turned out it happened to majority of us students. So we ended up filling up the answers ourselves with different pen inks just so he would feel they were done by other people.

O wow! This is wonderful information even if you think it is boring. It made me smile because I did answer most questions with a dice. Sometimes the system detects it and refuse to let me continue so I had to read where i went wrong. I only did it because of the payment. I think it is confirmed that I should not continue with surveys, I will just be cheating them. How hypocrite (I have always hated cheaters!)

I like doing surveys especially when you get previews of new products or films that are coming out. Sometimes I end up with freebies too. I tend to them all through one site that compiles them all from the various survey companies, so it is quicker and saves logging into loads of different sites. I earn about $80-$100 a month on surveys.

Hi momof3kids, I have partcipates in surveys , but not that often. What annoys me is that they ask you a 1001 questions and then to complete same you have to give them your cell phone number...Thats a "NO NO" for me...My cell phone is for emergencies only or to talk with my family or friends for a short while...No out siders will get my cell number.. So for that reason alone I just gave up on them..I never receive any payment for the surveys...It really not worth my time to continue to answer the same question over and over....just like you previouly stated.....

Sometimes to get to you they do use a very attractive bait. And asking for your phone number is a another way to market products. We have to wise up very fast because there is a whole study done to get to our money!

I get on survey sites to make extra money all the time. Some are very long and strenuous and hard to sit through. I have found two really good sites that I seem to earn a lot from. They are Surveyspot and Opinionoutpost. They both pay out pretty fast so I don't get impatient like with other sites waiting to get paid.

I do envy you. There are some companies that are worth your while from where you are. I dun have many such companies from where I am. Another company you should look into is Globaltestmarket. Do compare if its worth your while though. From where I am Globaltestmarket pays SGD$50 for every 1000 points accumulated.

"What about you? Do you enjoy doing surveys? If you do, do tell me why" That's about one question short of qualifying as a survey.

This is a way for me to confirm my decision to give up on surveys. I am quite desperate for money now. My financial situation has changed recently and I need to weigh my decision. Everyone has 24 hours so to optimise my earning time your input is important to me.

I have already join some survey company and took their survey nicely, but during my beginning i am not happy because you have to concentrate the survey because if you give any wrong answer you will not eligible to qualify that survey and no doubt nothing earn from that survey. But after that when i concentrate the survey and complete the survey i see it is more profitable than other sites because some long survey will pay you $5 as i am indian but uk and usa people got more than i cashout.. In survey, some survey is short which is 15 min, but some survey have took time approx 30 to 50 min. also, But when they paid your hard work you are in looking of survey mail in your mail i.d....

I do admit that when you get paid its very satisfying but some survey sites intend to give you the same surveys everytime. I do not like to do that, to go through the exact same surveys. Its like hearing someone nag at you the same exact things over and over. And usually those are the ones that take a long time to finish also.

I never like surveys. Though the questions are simple but sometimes their questions are beating around the bush and time consuming. I don't have the patience to answer the same questions but put differently.

Once I got this survey, they ask me the same questions for ten different brands. It is one of the surveys that broke the camels back for me. The thing is once i am halfway through it I have to finish because my time is spent and I want to get paid.

momof3kids. we all have to make our own decisions. i got sick of a bu nch of surveys I was on as survey after survey let me get most ot the way through then tell me you did not qualify. mysurvey.com is the only one I do like as I am always qualified to take them and for every 1100 points I can cash in for ten dollars. The surveys are really interesting and you get to use your input on new items as yet not yet on the grocers shelves.I have been with them for several years now.A lot of surveys disqualify me once I have put my age down. guess that they do not want the opinions of old women at all.

If you are not comfortable with lying (I have suggested in this same discussion how to qualify) then I suggest you find other methods of earning online. There are uncountable ways to earn online and if one rejects you, a thousand will accept you. But you have to choose or take calculated risk on which one that wont turn scam :(

I do sign up for Surveys. But, I give up about a week later. Because I found it's not interesting, and I don't get any question too. Surveys, sometimes good for me, but sometimes it's annoying, bothersome.

I agree with you, surveys requires time and concentration and sometimes you may end up spending alot of time which is not worth what you earns.

Exactly. Those long and tedious surveys always leave me feeling cheated. But I am desperate for money now and I am making decisions whether to continue with some which will make my time worthwhile. I have received some very good feedbacks so I am happy with my responses. Thanks.

It is good to choose the ones that you think are worth your time and continues doing them. Sometimes online jobs needs sacrifices and willinginess to do something even with little pay.

I've tried to registered in a survey site but never active. Filling survey is not one of my preferred way of making money online. I find it boring and it needs too much time and concentration. So, I give up. It is annoying that they have to ask you some questions to know if it is suitable to you. Most of the time I don't qualify.

Yes I agree that if you dun quality a lot then its time to find another way of earning online. Dun waste your time anymore, do something else. Your time is very precious. Money is something you can find and replace but time is what you wont get back.
