I always sneeze whenever I eat mint-flavored candies and tablets. But it would be only during the first couple of seconds after swallowing it. As it melts inside my mouth, the sneezing would stop. This always happen with whatever mint candy that I eat. I really wonder why. But even though I always sneeze, I still eat mint candies. It freshens breath. ^^ Does this happen to you?

No- I don't sneeze eating spicy or mint candies. I sneeze when my surrounding is dusty, too much smoke (that is why I don't like going out and commuting) I sneeze with too much scent or with people who uses strong perfume. I also like minty candies, it's soothing :)

Strong scents of perfume and colognes make me sneeze, too but only at the time of spraying. After a while, it gets better and I don't sneeze anymore.

I hate it when people put on too much perfume (ex. my brother). I don't sneeze though, I get a headache.

Hi Jai sis, i do sneeze a lot, too, if the surrounding place that i visit is very dusty. But, it is fine if the place is only mild dusty. Strong perfume do makes me sneeze a lot, too. Seems like, i am also allergy to them.

lol. How do you keep them in your mouth when you sneeze? It doesn't happen to me. But I do remember that I used to sneeze a lot whenever I'm using St. Ives Apricot Scrub. lol. As in the exact moment I'm washing my face.

I think it's more uncomfortable to sneeze while you're washing your face. I always stuck the candies somewhere deep inside my mouth before I sneeze so they don't fall out.

Well, good thing it doesn't go up your nose. That would have been very uncomfortable.

Yes it happens to me, thought I was the only one who sneezed after eating peppermint sweets. Like you it only happens at the first few seconds. I call it a 'peppermint sneeze' and think its fun, although it may actually be caused by some kind of allergy.

Hi Secret, so far i don't have any problem if i eat mint candies. In fact, i feel cool and refreshed when i eat any mint candies. I loves to eat mint candies a lot. But, i have to control my intake of it because it is very sweet. I tried my best to protect my teeth.

I also feel refreshed and mint candies actually clears up my nasal passage and breathing. It's just that, the first few seconds of putting the candies into my mouth, it makes me sneeze.

I wanna say that you're allergic to it but since you ate it, I think you're not. Lol! That's something else though. I never encountered of anyone who sneezes when eating mints. As for your question, no. I really don't sneeze of anything when I eat mint candies. I love mint candies to boot! Even the mintiest ones. Lol!

So far it did not happen to me. But normally whenever I eat mints I would cough so hard. It's kinda odd coz it should meant to relieve the itchiness in my throat but it triggers the itchiness more. So whenever I have cough I try to avoid eating candies/mints.

That's weird. I guess you have some kind of allergic reaction to this candy, too. But I've always thought mint candies can make breathing easier.

It happens to me a lot. If I eat very strong minty candies, or even if I chew very minty bubble gum, I will sneeze. The strong mint just seems to tickle my pallet and makes me sneeze. I've done this for years and it's usually only if the mint is very strong, mild mint doesn't usually do it, spearmints and strong mints usually do. If I eat aero mint chocolate, or other milk mint, or even lamb with mint I don't sneeze, it's really just the very strong ones that maybe my nose is a bit too sensitive to, mind you I have a cleft pallet so the mint strangeness goes to my nose quicker.

Maybe it is your allergies. Not that you are allergic to the mint itself; but along with freshening your breath mint also opens sinus passages that may have previously been swollen or blocked. When the nasal passages open, this allows more allergens to get into your system, and then your sinuses make you sneeze to attempt to get them back out. I haven't had this happen to me though, but I guess it would also depend on the environment you are in and what allergens you are actually allergic to, given the case that I described.

That makes sense. I actually feel it's easier to breath when I'm eating mint candies. So I guess what you explained has a point. I also observed that I don't always sneeze when I eat mint candies. I guess it depends on the place where I eat them.

That definitely sounds like environmental allergies. Make sure that you aren't somewhere that is dusty or has other things that you are allergic to, and you should be fine.

As I read down all the comments, I'm surprised to learn that I'm the only one who sneezes when I eat a mint candy! I hate to think it's allergy because I only sneeze a few times and as the candy melts, I don't sneeze anymore. The effect on you is quite more worrisome.

This has never happened to me either. I do almost always sneeze after swallowing a vitamin C tablet however. Usually I sneeze twice in a row then.

Nope, nothing i eat makes me sneeze. hehe ^^ I like mint flavored stuff, only in things meant to be eaten.. haha Like u mentioned, i like the mint effect of freshening our breath, in turns makes us feel good too. There's also this cool feeling lingering in the mouth, and it actually cools me down a little during the hot weather. hehe WHenever i'm buying sweets, i will be looking for mint flavored ones ^^

No...I don't sneeze when I eat them. It reminds me though if a clunk my shin or elbow...it makes me cough. I have asked a few people if it happens to them and I have never saw anyone that says it does. Isn't it funny how different people react to things?

That doesn't happen to me. That sounds so weird. Maybe you have an allergy to mint, or another common ingredient in most mint-flavored candy. This kind of makes me think of how some people sneeze when they are exposed to bright light.
