Different foreign language tends to be more popular to be learned in different countries. There may be many reasons for that; economy, geography, or trends among other things. When I lived in Southern California, learning Spanish seems to be the popular thing. Then I discovered learning Chinese is "in" when I lived in Indonesia. Now here, I was surprised when I found out Indonesian is among the popular foreign language offered in High School.

I like Italian and want to learn it. French and Spanish tend to have some similarity with Italian in some words. I already know Hindi, Punjabi, English and basic Sanskrit. I can understand a little of few regional languages too.

@sishy7 When I was in Primary School, we learned Japanese. Which I loved. In high school, it was French. I struggled with that one though.

@VivaLaDani13 I would have run away from it. The letters alone are scary looking to learn. Forget the pronunciation Hey do you know that translators jobs are also popular?

Perth, Western Australia. Yes, many take Bahasa Indonesia as a foreign language option here. It is even one of the WA Certificate of Education Exam subject that Yr12 students have to take when they enroll in the course.

I do agree what you said. in Indonesia is a very popular language is English and many languages ??- languages that are popular. but beyond that not all people can learn the language, but it should not stop business because of the environment is also very influential for us to understand the language -the language from the outside like any of the country.

Being an international language, I would think English is popular all over the world. It's interesting to find not so common foreign language is being learned by many students. Perhaps Indonesian language will gain popularity all over the world.
