Extra Virgin Olive Oil and other oils

Extra virgin olive oil is a good oil to use since it is considered a healthy fat to cook with but it has a low smoking point so I like to use canola or corn oil for deep frying. I think these are healthy although I don't deep fry food too often because it is more calories than , say baking or broiling or stewing. Extra virgin olive oil is quite expensive and I cannot afford this too often but I will buy it if it's on sale at times. I like olive oil for salads and some light saute. One of my favourite T.V. cooks, Rachel Ray cooks a lot with evoo, extra virgin olive oil. She has some good recipies sometimes but I think she overuses evoo, cheese and garlic. I get newsletters about her show and recipies almost every day and some I keep and some not. I was wondering about peanut oil and grapeseed oil, some say these are good for you too. I don't use them but I may try them in the future. Peanut oil , I think is good for stir-fry and Chinese food. Share your thoughts on different cooking oils or cooking in general.

You should, apparently, only use extra virgin in cold dishes, such as salad dressings, and use normal olive oil in hot dishes.

I like peanut oil for other things than stirfry and other Chinese food. I have used it for hash browns and it was good (to me). I like olive oil, too, but seldom buy extra virgin olive oil because of the expense. Anyway, I use it to cook with. Canola oil is not healthy unless you can find it labelled organic. Canola oil is better than corn oil by far, but still not great. Any oil that's extracted from vegetables have been subjected to many chemicals and solutions that cannot be removed from them. I use sesame seed oil when I can afford it, for Chinese cooking. It really makes a difference in the taste.
