Today was my fathers 53rd birthday. My mother had my kids and I over for pizza and cake and ice cream. I had about 5 pieces of pizza plus a big piece of cake. Its about 2 hours later and I am exhausted. I feel so thirsty its like im dehyrdated. I dont know if its really happening but it feels like my hearts beating harder to. Gosh it makes me feel awful. I get this way when I have something that is to salty like how mcdonalds used to way oversalt their french fries when I was younger. I feel terrible. I am going to bed I think and hopefully when I wake up I feel better. I think first I will go drink another big glass of water. I guess I shouldnt have eaten so much pizza but I was so hungry and it was so good.

Funnily enough, I feel like this whenever I eat pizza which is the reason why I rarely eat it now, especially take-away pizza. The last one I had was sooo laden with salt I actually struggled to eat it all. I have toyed with the idea of making my own using pizza dough but I'm so used to not eating it anymore I haven't got round to it yet lol. I think you did the right thing drinking water afterwards although I'm glad you liked the pizza at the time. It's brilliant food for when we're "really hungry" like you say.

I eat frozen pizza that you have to cook in your oven such as tombstone and red baron and those never bother me. I could eat the whole pizza and I dont have that reaction. I think because the dough is bland and there isnt much sauce. But this pizza from the pizza place in town really bothered me that night. The only other time this has happened was when the pizza came from a place where we go shopping. There pizza is always delicious but salty.

Salty foods can raise your blood pressure. That is why your heart was beating harder and faster. I usually can feel it in my neck. I would say cut down on how many pieces of pizza you eat next time. Also it might not hurt for you to get your blood pressure checked out.

Well I've always had really low blood pressure. Its usually so low that when I get it checked the nurses ask me if I'm ok or if I'm going to faint and I'm totally fine at that point. I do black out a lot no matter how I eat. Maybe when I ate that much pizza it made my blood pressure go up like you say and since my body isnt used to that maybe it made me feel sick.

Could have been the salt, or more like oil and sugar. It's probably time to go have a medical check up and see what things could affect your health in both good and bad ways so as to know which things to avoid.

I hope you are feeling better by now. I would actually mention that to your Dr if you had not already. You know the cause of it but perhaps there could be other concerns with your heart or BP to watch out for. And of course keep very hydrated as that makes most of us feel better after eating something so salty.

I don't know how many people will accept my points. First of all, I used to avoid all outside foods if possible. Even if I am hungry, I will wait till I come home and found no other source, then I will prefer to eat outside as the last choice. It is not only pizzas, most of the preparations are made only for taste and money and not for the goodness of our health. I think I eat a piece of pizza about 3 years back. I know, if we eat it, within 15 mts. time we feel thirsty. If I eat 2 ice creams, I will thirsty or giddyness within 10 mts. after eating it. Why? The ingradiants are not recommended and they are preparing it beyond the required limits and which cause us uneasiness and which lead to any kind of other desease. Any way, hope you are ok now and for many reasons, we cannot always depend on homely food. But try to avoid and prepare at home is the best choice. Even I used to get lunch from home, though I used to get subsidised lunch in our office. But I try to avoid eat the food from canteen only becasue of the reasons I said above. Thank-s

I have experienced this with pizzas and other salty foods. I think is the amount of cheese and the all the salty ingredients on the pizza such as ham, beacon etc I also feel this way when i eat foods with a lot of sauce and cooked tomato inside.

Wow, five pieces of pizza and a big piece of cake is really too much, that's why your hearth is beating so fast, I know as when I ate larger than normal my heart would beat faster then I'd get heartburn and sometimes feel a little sick so I take some tums and then lay down. My stomach would feel awful for hours on end, though. It's just your body saying that it can't handle that much food in one sitting, that's all. Drink lots of water to rehydrate yourself, salt will dehydrate.
