For about a month now I've been seeing commercials for the new series The River. I'm a big fan of suspense/mystery/thrillers and the show looked pretty interesting. The commercials never really revealed much and I thought I'd give it a try. It premiered last night and I made sure I had it recorded because I was getting home from work at 10pm. It was a 2 hour premiere and I think it had a good start. Most of the filming is hand-held by a camera crew that acts in the show..kind of like a Paranormal Activity (the show is made by the same people). The first hour wasn't too scary, it was the next hour that really scared me lol. The whole atmosphere of the show was creepy and eerie. That combined with the few scary parts they showed scared the pants off me. I couldn't go to bed right away because I was a little nervous lol! Did anyone else watch the premiere of The River?

I will say that the story is different and interesting given traditional network television drama shows. I love how strong the Amazon is as a character on the show. It reminds me of Lost which is one of my favorite shows of all-time. The acting was difficult to swallow but so far the plot has kept me coming back.

Lost is a great show. It absolutely makes The River pale in comparison, even after only a few episodes of each show. I should have clarified my point earlier. In Lost, the island that the cast was trapped on was as much a character as the Amazon is on The River. I'd definitely suggest watching Lost as it's a great mystery/suspense drama and it has things to appeal to all genres: action, romance, suspense, comedy etc.

Oh wow, that sounds like a good show. Right now I have a whole list of tv series that I want to watch from the beginning and see all seasons and episodes. Lol I just wish I could find the time to do it

I've only watched lost for a few episodes, but I want to go back and watch the series from the beginning. The plot for the river is really mysterious and suspenseful. The atmosphere is also creepy and scares me if I watch it at night lol. I'm definitely hooked to this story and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I didn't watch it but it looks like an awesome show! Horror films/scary things in general tend to stick in my head for awhile, so I figured it'd be a good idea for me to stay away from it. I'm glad you gave us a review on it, so now I know. I was really disappointed that I couldn't watch it since I'm so interested in those types of films/t.v. shows, I just can't bring myself to watch them.

If you can, try watching them during the day, it'll be a lot less scarier. These shows are always on at night and that's when I get even more scared. I also love the new series called An American Horror Story. That show would come on late at night and I would get so creeped out that I wouldn't be able to go to bed for a while lol. But whenever I watch that stuff during the day, I find it a lot less scary

I watched the Pilot episode last night. It is a bit scary I guess. But it is not something that will be included in my top 10 favorite televison series. The characters are not that good I guess. They do not have this certain appeal that you will remember them.

I liked Paranormal activity so I'll give it a try. Thank you for sharing.
