I wake up dizzy most mornings

I don't know what it is but a lot of times I wake up, I find myself dizzy and feeling light headed. I don't think this happens from a lack of food because I'll eat the night before and still wake up feeling like that. It will especially happen if I end up sleeping in until about 9:30 or 10. I don't know why it happens but it makes me feel sick until I start moving about and getting on with my day. Does this happen to anyone else?

The only time I feel dizzy or light headed after waking up is when I get more sleep than I should. Five hours of sleep is a luxury for me. I think during week nights, I only get 4 hours of sleep. On Saturday mornings, I too wake up at around 9:30 or 10. Which meant I've had at least 6 hours. That's when I'm feeling a bit dizzy.

I think the same happens to me too. On a normal day I'll sleep from about 11-11:30 until 8-8:30. If I go to bed later and then sleep later and longer, that's when I notice the dizziness and I think you're right, it's from getting too much sleep. It doesn't happen every day, only the days where I sleep longer than I normally do.

Could you be pregnant? Some women become very dizzy headed.. my daughter did with her first one.. and she would be very sick sometimes too.

No, I really don't think it's that. I'm usually only dizzy if I sleep in later than I'm used to or during the day if I haven't eaten. Once I have food or caffeine in me, I'm back to normal. When I wake up early for school I'm completely fine. I also wonder if it has to do with lack of sleep. Sometimes in the mornings I'll have really bad nightmares and I usually sleep in an hour or so later. But then when I wake up, I don't feel well rested and that's when I'm light headed.

This used to happen to me as well. Try having a shower each morning, it will help you wake up normally.
