Would you like to have your face frozen forever?

I just saw the movie ‘In Time’ last night. Although the storyline could have been improved, I just found the idea of waking up one day and have the face to be frozen forever quite interesting. Would you like the face, or the age you have right now to be the one frozen forever? That’s of course if you have the ‘time’ as per the movie (as you could only have it for as long as the time you have). Have you seen this movie? What do you think about having time as the currency for the world? Do you think that the plastic surgery industry would still be able to thrive in a world such as in the movie?

Haven't seen this movie, so you've got me a bit confused. But I don't think I'd want my face or age frozen for the rest of my life. Could you imagine.. my kids are 50ish and I'm 70ish but I look 30ish? How weird would that be? They take me someplace and people would think they're my parent instead of the other way around! And how gross would my husband and I look together if he looked 70ish and I still looked 30ish.

There were actually some weird scenes in the movie just because of the 'frozen age' thing. Justin Timberlake's mom was Olivia Wilde (from House). Together they looked more like a couple than mom and son. And there was the scene when Vincent Kartheiser(from Mad Men)introduced his mother-in-law, wife, and daughter. They all looked to be about the same age! Thanks kat!

Yup I saw this movie already... I like it but living in such world would not be ideal for me. Although I like how our faces will be frozen forever (long as we live) - I think I won't be able to live longer too if time is the currency. I doubt that there will be plastic surgery industry if we are living in such world

It would really be a big shift in the world if time were the currency. Everybody would be working to make more time. We don't have to worry about getting old and grey, but we do have to worry about our time running out. Thanks enelym001!

Yup I think we won't be able to buy the latest gadget if we are an ordinary worker who earns just enough. No luxuries for us unless we are from elite families. We would always think about our time on Earth rather than buying expensive things. What I hate in the movie is when you get robbed by people, taking all your life with you when they see you have so much life in your time. It should at least be a little confidential so people can't think about killing and taking your time.

This is the first time that I've heard of the movie that you are talking about. However, I can say that I don't think that I would want to have my face frozen as it appeared at any point during my life. The reason that I say that is because of the fact that I'm a naturalist in many ways and doing something like that wouldn't be natural at all. The changes that our faces go through in the course of our lives say a lot about our lives and that would be something that wouldn't be good to lose in my opinion.

The problem is, society is not so kind on women. Guys have it easier. The more lines on their (our) faces the more character it adds up to their/our personalities. Women don't have it the same way. Thanks!

I haven't seen the movie - hmmm, is it on Netflix? I can't imagine having my face frozen forever . . . how about the rest of me? And I don't know about my age being frozen (at any age) either because that would mean everyone else around me would age and eventually die well before me - too sad. Time as currency . . . interesting concept! Certainly I wouldn't mind being rich with more time now. But I wonder how that changes the phrase that money is the root of all evil - how would that twist our thinking of "time"? For those that want to keep their youthful appearance, I suppose freezing their face would be most useful . . . but for those who want to make transformations like enlarging, reducing or fixing this or that, there still may be a need for plastic surgery (unless they come up with a way to do it another way!). Ahhh, I'll have to see the movie!

Actually, in the movie, everybody was frozen at 25. Not only the face, but the rest of the body. And the only people that die around them are the ones running out of their currency, time. Not sure if it's on Netflix already, but you should see it! Thanks much!

Is this the movie by Justin Timberlake??? When they reached the age of 25, they will never grow old. I'm not sure if they mentioned that they are genetically engineered. This movie is pretty good. Justin also improved his acting compared to his other movies.

Yes, it's the same movie. To be honest, I didn't hear much about why they stop growing old at 25. I was still doing something before I settled in to watch. I guess he did improve his acting. He needs a lot more serious roles so people would forget that he's a singer when he's up in the big screen. Thanks.

I don't mean it in the sense to have your face poured with ice or liquid nitrogen to get it frozen. I mean, that whatever you look right now, would you want that face to be the same forever. Or at least for as long as you live? It's an interesting concept. Thanks.

I didn't see the movie, but the matter of letting your face frozen is a matter of ego, and I would opt for this, besides being funny, I find interesting how my body changes over the time considering psychological changes that also affect your face and so on. So the answer is yes.

Hello overcrok! I think I appreciate your honest answer. I know some people here wouldn't say yes thinking it's not natural, but I think it's cool to have our face and age frozen for the rest of our lives. Thanks and welcome to myLot!

As opposed are you to plastic surgery, I'm sure there are also a lot of people who prefer this. To keep their face frozen in time. Specially if they deal with the public. This movie is apt for this kind of people. But of course the money as currency makes the movie a bit interesting. Thanks.
