I have a question about the discussions

Hi mylotters, As I understand from the guidelines, we are not supposed to duplicate discussions. Is that referring to duplicates in all category, or just the same category? For example, if I start a discussion in 'relationships' it would not make sense to duplicate in the same category, but can I have the same discussion in 'life' as I do in 'relationships'? Thank you in advance!

The Guidelines are clear and state: "Make sure you search for existing topics before starting new discussions." http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx That refers to excisting topics in the entire myLot site and not just in specific interests.

Ah! I think you are correct and that I misread the topic. In that case I have a question fot the topic starter... Why would you think that myLot would allow you to post the same topic in multiple interests? Would you also expect to be paid for posting the same thing multiple times too?

Discussions are seen in many other places outside the interest in which they are first posted. When you first post one it goes ' the 'new' tab. Every time it receives new activity it will appear at the top of the 'recent' tab. If the tags are carefully worded then it will appear in the 'similar topics' column on the right of other discussions with similar tags (as you can see over there ---) Your friends, if they have there notifiers on, will see it too as soon as you post it. If you keep it moving with comments that add to the discussion then it might also appear in the 'hot topics' tab and then even on the Digest. One discussion, if carefully orchestrated, could end up being seen by everyone who is active here right now

January, Yes, that is what I meant. Thank you for clarifying. mysdianait, I wasn't even thinking of the money. I was thinking that people might have the interest 'understanding' but may not have the interest 'kind' so if I only put it under 'kind' then the others wouldn't see it.

Whatever name by which you call a discussion-- repetition of discussions is to be avoided. If you get an inkling of an idea that it may be repetition, it is better to avoid it. Sometime they may run through without being pointed by fellow members.

The rule is not duplicating a discussion and that would include under any interest. There are things that you can do though...one...if there is a topic that you take particular interest in, you can answer the older discussion and revive it so to say. If you find a topic that is like the one you wanted to start, maybe you could narrow down exactly what you would like to talk about and discuss that. It can be quite a challenge but you can do it! Take care and good luck!

No way you can use to copy or duplicate an discussion neither in different category. I so far i had seen that similar discussion with same sense are allowed but a fully copied discussion is not allowed unless a user by mistake post it twice(as i too once or two times). IF you want the same discussion but if they have different words they can be allowed but it will not help you since they other mylotter comes to know about it and will not post to your dupiclate post.
