For those bothered with ants! We live in the woods and carpenter ants are a huge problem. We have spent thousands of dollars with Orkin and on other ant poisons trying to keep them under control but nothing had helped. Then I learned that Aspartame (sold as*NutraSweet*) was actually developed as an ant poison and sometime later was switched to a sugar substitute, after it was realized there more money in it as a sweetener. Its a sure-fire way to kill fire-ants. Just sprinkle the powder on their mound and they go crazy for it. One day later you can't find a fire ant anywhere! Just remember what it does to ants, next time your tempted to add some to your coffee!

I don't know about the Nutra sweet.. Is it like a food?..We also have lot of ants here in our home. When i put our food in food containers, later in a short time when i look back in the food i will see lot of ants again even i put it in a sealed container. When i see line of ants or group of ants in one corner i will spray them Baygon. That is a insect killer. It is also bad for our lungs so after i spray it inside the house,i just stay outside for 1 to 3 hours.

Hi there honey man...lol. Do you think it would work on all ants? My caravan was full of ants a few weeks ago, I found the nest and destroyed it and the ants were all gone next day but they are always a problem inside the house for a couple of months of the year.

Well, give it a try! Pick up a few of those little packages on the restaurant table, and dump one in the corner where the ants are getting in. There is a good chance your ants will disappear!

I'm never interested in using it in my coffee. I avoid it at all costs! I am however interested in using it as an ant killer. With being in the country there's all kind of pests out here, including ants! I get tired of battling them and never truly winning the fight... Anyway, thanks for the tip bearhugs. I'll have to remember that!

Will this work for the common house ants also? I'm going to try it. Believe me I will never use or even keep my mouth shut when I see others use this product to sweeten anything. Thanks

Yes it'll poison anything, and cheaply too. Just scrounge a few of those lil pink envelopes that you find on the restaurant table. Tear one open and dump it wherever you see ants in your kitchen. Guaranteed to kill!

Is this true? NutraSweet is used to kill ants? How about the other brands of artificial sweeteners? Or should I look if it is made from aspartame?

There are quite a few "other names" for Aspartame. NutraSweet is just one of them. God only knows what new name they will think of next, and She isn't telling!

actually my grandfather always put malathion liquid or just he spray it to the hole or in the house of the ants, and he usually do that in the province, ants rally hate the smell of this chemical because even human never wanted to smell this kind of chemical.

Interesting, and to think they have used this in Diet Soda, etc. I know I for one cannot stand the taste, but that is Good to know if we ever have problems with ants. This is interesting information, and something I am glad you chose to share here.

Hello barehugs, Thanks for sharing this discussion. This is really informative, I have the same problem with house ants. My wife usually uses insect killer to get rid of them but that is too expensive to use. Maybe I should try this too.
