well, i am not American and i am pretty sure that here in Canada, the government started the income tas as a 'temporary' measure to make more money during world war one for armaments, etc. sometimes those 'good old days' were good.

I think Canada has a better system than the U.S. From my girlfriend I hear they do not take all your money away from you when you go in a nursing home. Ours strip us of everything except 35.00 a month spending money. The US really does strip us down as we age and basically feed us to the lions. If Canada was not so cold I would try to get my citizenship there. But my ailments would not stand the cold like that.

well, its not always so cold. we have very hot summers too. i only live an hour away from the NY border so our weather is pretty much the same as theirs. i wasnt aware that the US did that though. that is horrible!

My mother was a child during the depression and she is always talking about what they did because they couldn't afford things. Her family had 8 people all together and they had their own garden, chickens and other food supplies. They couldn't buy things, but they were very close. Some of the things they did instead of buying things was very inspired. She says our income tax was supposed to be only temporary. Almost 100 years later and we are still paying it.
