Stuck at home for a long time now

Philippines

I've been stuck at home for awhile now since I graduated. Been trying to find a job but still no luck. :( What's worse is that it's like my self confidence is going down. I used to feel good about myself but since I was stuck at home and had nothing to do, I feel worthless. And when I do get job interviews, I get so nervous sometimes that I forget what to say. Not like when I was still studying. I wasn't that talkative at school but I can talk and have conversations with people without any problem but now, I feel like I'm afraid of other people. It's a really annoying feeling. Have you experienced this too?

i suggest you get online jobs on freelance sites like odesk, guru, and many more.. i did resigned on my former job because i can get more good paying clients online. like you, im stuck right here in my house. and that's because i'm always loaded with online work. never did i experienced a job interview. because before, when i'm applying for a job, i just let them look at my portfolio and resume, and then they always hire me immediately. the employer sure will ask some few questions, but nothing too formal. i even wore a metal band shirt when i submitted my resume. i let my resume and my portfolio do the talking for me.

Yes. I am afraid of people too. He he. I am scared of people because I do not trust people at all, but for me, it is normal. I can still talk and have a conversation to those people I meet, but I do not want to stay long. Maybe you have a bad experience in your life from the past or there a lot of factors which I do not know. It is normal. You can overcome it but it takes time.

I think there are many people that can easily relate with what you are going thru. With the job market being the way it is, and jobs in so many areas almost impossible to find if you are wanting to be a little more choosy, knowing what to say when called in for an interview is the Big thing for sure. I know personally I hate interviews, and glad I have a job, or busy working my Online/Offline business which includes sales and doing shows as well. Hopefully something can happen for you soon that will be more positive and help give you your confidence and gain you some employment. Wishing you the Best.

I am going on 16, most of my life I have been homescooled. I am almost finished with schooling in general except for colledge when I'm older. I am always very depressed, hopeless, and upset. I am bored sitting here all this time. I enjoy being homeschooled and hate public school. I have trouble finding stuff to do around the house. Public school was even more stressful, I was over whelmed with homework, and always late ect.. I have releif from that now but I have been thinking about things that have happened to me in the past. And my mind is focused on that so I am depressed. My life isn't fun or good, never has been. That is why I am depressed. I wish to get somewhere in life, do something. I to am hoping to get a job soon and get out and make some money so maybe I can go do something fun. Its hard to get a job these days and sitting home all day does make most everyone depressed, theres no sunshine here, nothing to take my mind off my problems. If I had a job that would take my mind off it for awhile, so I wouldn't be so bored and depressed. I have been trapped at home like I'm on house arrest. Except when I go shopping sometimes. I know how you feel. Keep searching for a job and you'll feel better once you get out there. I have no self confidence either. I have feelings of hopelessness.

hi, Initially it happens that way but do not think anything negative and just have full confidence while attending an interview. Make a resume highlighting your skills, talents and qualifications. You keep noting down as what you should be talking at the interview. If you get a chance practise an interview session with friends. Yu need not be talkative to face an interview and get succeed. Also read some positive and motivational write ups to boost you up. As others have suggested, try using some online earning as pocket money at the moment. Have a nice time. Viju

Hey there silence, I suggest the same thing that one of the lotters here just stated, get online jobs, to earn money, you'll get the confidence, back once you feel money on your hands, i think that confidence in once self is built some are born with it but for me you have to build it. If you feel like your succeeding online you'll see a growth in you then you'll have some kind of confidence as a starter and be able to work your wake back into the outside world, Baby steps my friend baby steps. Flash's baby!!! (the super hero so be quick about your baby steps).

I work from home and enjoy it because I have never enjoyed being around people all the time... BUT, when I don't see people for a few days and only have online communications, I begin to feel uncomfortable in a social situation, so I suspect it's the same thing. The solution for me is to make myself get out there more often. I invite people over, go to meetings and so on. In your situation, why not look for some free courses where you can get out and get involved again? Some cities provide things like that, or see if there's a course at a nearby college that you can sit in without getting credit. That's usually free. Do whatever you can to get yourself out in the flow of things again and I think you'll soon feel more at ease in job interviews and maybe more confident in looking for work.

Since 2008 the economy has taken a serious dump. Millions are out of working and having a hard time finding work.67 million people on food stamp last report. Maybe you can start your own yard work business.Start small and build up your clients.Think about how you can start your own business.Good luck.

I know what you feel silence777. I'm also been stuck at home for quite some time now since I had to stop schooling for one semester. It seems to me that I got used with the lifestyle and the environment of staying inside the house. Each time I go outside, I feel like I'm in a new world with a whole new environment. I think that's normal since our body are used to staying inside the house. I hope that you'll be able to find a new job despite the scarcity of job vacancy in our country today. :))

It's normal to have such feeling, especially after graduation and you are focusing to get a job soon. This nervousness will wear away if you try to get rid of it by doing physical exercises. Believe me, this will work for you.

Wow.We both are same kind of persons.I too have the exact same problem that you have.I figured that you are from Philippines. I guess developing countries have a lot of jobs available at the moment. I am from India and it is way too easy to get a job if you have good educational qualification. But in order to get a well paying job it is extremely difficult ,especially if you are not as smart as others. There are lots of jobs in call centres that one can get with out much difficulty. I'm not talking of international call centres but domestic ones. If you can speak your mother tongue well then you'll easily get a job in a domestic call centre. That is the situation here in India. If you can speak English passably then you get a high paying job in some international call centres.

I have some reasons too why I have been stuck at home as well for sometime like you. But am trying to get back on the track and hopefully things will run smoothly for me. Haven't been on any interview for some time and I hope I won't feel nervous once I;m there. I believe that it is better to try going to more interviews. The more you go to those interviews and got rejected, the more you feel prepared on other future interviews. Good luck and hope you'll get hired!
