Hi, That is one cute puppy that you're sporting on your id picture. Anyway, back to your question. Yes, at times I love to listen to music while I work. The only problem that I tend to have is that, being a musician myself, I can get very caught up in the structure of the songs. I stop the work that I'm supposed to be doing and I head to the radio and really listen to the chord patterns and fills. So much for getting any work done.

That's what I have to do, mattman, listen to the music that I 'like' but wait to listen to what I truly love until I can really focus on what I'm listening to, away from work. So you tend to break into song at the office? That's cool. I'm sure you're co-workers love it. Anyway, welcome to myLot. Hope you enjoy yourself here.

Agreed. I try to listen to bands I 'like' but not too much of the ones I 'LOVE' so I don't get too distracted or break into song in the middle of the office ;)

thanks. luckily my office-mate knows a lot of the same classic songs, so we occasionally bust out a duet, but in a funny(awkward) a capella/spoken word/poetry slam/karaoke mixture. good times.

Yes, i like having the music on, while working and even doing mylot like what i am doing now. But the music has to be soft only so it wouldn't disturb me much from thinking what i have to say here. But if i am doing a physical work, i like listening loudly to a fast music.

yeah. When i do some work which calls for little brain ,i will have the music on ,as the music can relax myself. But when i do such work as needs much attention, i'll turn the music off, keeping myself away from any noisey sounds. At this time if i turn the music on, my mind will be distracted.

Yes, just like you whenever my job requires me to think , i would turn off the music instead. That way, i will be focused on it. The music tend to distract me because i would be singing along with it.

It depends upon the type of your job. If my job is more on mental function I would prefer it solemn and quiet to stay focus and avoid such disturbances. But if my work is more of physical excretion then music would be a good companion! Like for example; I was cleaning the house or cultivating my garden, it is nice to dance and sing with the music and assuming my soft broom handle as my microphone while doing my work is so much enjoyable!Cheers!

Music is a gift. I love it. I don't think that I have ever met somebody who does not like music. I also like making music even if I am not very good at it. While doing homework, I almost always have something being played. If I am really tired, a more upbeat song would be better for me to stay awake. Music makes people live longer? Well, it sure is not the case with famous singers these days. They die awfully young. But I do think that music is really beneficial to one's health... I know it always makes my mood and thoughts better. I like music especially in the morning... it encourages me to actually get up and go go go. It is like a battery for me. Without it, I am so slow. I don't want to get up. I don't want to bathe. I I must have my music!

I do love listening to music while I work. Puts me in a better mood and gets me motivated to get going and I feel I become a lot more effiecient with my time. As far as feeling down, yes its a great time to listen to music. Depending on your preference of genre and what the song is about can make you feel better. Personally I like the ones that I can relate to when I'm down. When I'm mad of course I prefer the songs that basically say screw you and the world. I know, its not that much of a good thing but thats what makes me feel better. I wouldn't doubt music can help one live longer just based on the fact that when your happy, you are usually in a better shape, mind and body wise.

Yes, actually i am here at the office and i keep tuned in to a music station. Music gives me energy though i keep its volume low so that i could not disturb other workers.Soft music stimulates my mind and inspires me in my work. It also brightens my day. Sometimes, through music i also remember friends or people who became part of my past ans it makes me smile. I really believe that music can influence us in all our activities but it depends on the type of person and the type of music he/she loves. I prefer jazz tunes, pop and love songs.

Music helps me concentrate at all times. I like to listen to it when I am working. It does keep me from causing too much stress. It is one of the easier and most efficient stress relievers out there. And believe me when I say there are going to be many chances for some stress right when I am working. Therefore music is just going to take me to a place where the stress is not going to weigh on me as much and to keep me from agonizing. Especially when I am typing or writing online. If music does have a good beat, I get into it and the creative juices get flowing. Music frees up a block mentally that has caused me more problems than it has had solutions. Stress tends to bog me down but I really try and not let it get to me all that much. Music is just a mental healer for some reason and it helps me be at peace when I am working on something.

I love listening to music at work. I listen to lots of different styles but mostly hardcore and metal, so I made a playlist on my iPod of 'socially acceptable' music to listen to in the office and when driving with work associates. Coldplay, Beatles, Smashing Pumpkins, Blink-182... it's like having an alternative rock station that only plays music I like, and won't offend anyone else. Perfecto.

Yes, I do. I love to listen to music, any genre, while working because feel relax, light and alive. My mind is clearer whenever I hear songs of love and encouragement and definitely, I can work effectively and efficiently.

Yes, as a musician and music lover myself, I can vouch for the fact that music is a great mood enhancer. I do listen to music as I work at times, but nothing heavy or I will end up listening more to the music than getting on with my work! _Derek

It depends on the type of work I'm doing. I do various types of work...I'm a novelist, a real estate investor, and I do a ton of clerical work for various people when they need it. When writing a novel, no, I can't listen to music. Sometimes a song gives me an idea for a story or a certain situation that characters must face, but I cannot listen to music while typing it up...I get distracted! Clerical work? No again. Music is just very distracting, particularly when you are listening to lyrics and typing different words at the same time. Now with my real estate, that's a different question. This past summer I had one of my tenants move out, so I hired my best friend to do some of the cleaning and fix-it work with me throughout the summer that we readied it for the next tenant. We took a CD player and lots of her and my CDs...after all, if you're stuck in a one bedroom condo, you in one room and your friend in the other in the midst of paint and spackling and torn off wallpaper, you want something to pay attention to! A lot of work in maintaining properties is repetitive (painting, cleaning, patching holes, etc.), so music actually tends to speed up the pace and make the time fly. Overall, I think it depends on the type of work and whether music will be a benefit or a detriment to you.

I think it a very good idea, I usually like listening music while working...but my boss didn't allow its employees to listen music, so when I have time at my house for working I surely listen music.....and also work. It say multitasking is not good but this kind of multitasking is very relaxing, its like you are enjoying what ever you are doing......I also like listening music songs while playing some kind of games......

you would find it weird to know that i used to listen to music when i used to solve mathematical problems at my school. I do not know how much it is true but one of my teachers used to tell me that it helps to keep your mind relaxed and while solving problems of maths your need to keep your mind cool. I find it the best way to solve my mathematical problems and sums.even after so many years i find music providing me the same kind of relaxation and soothing feeling any time of the day. i prefer to turn on the music while i cook and bath and do want myself detached from all the tensions of my life. its good to be in the company of music. Thank You.
