Baking at 3am

So here I am, 3am, a new - well, not so new,I've slipped back into my nocturnal wanderings and sleeping during the day - and baking. Not sure if this has to do with my depression or not but my body just seems to function better at night time and I'm more apt to work better this time and now I'm Mylotting, Swagbuckking, have cookies in the oven, and bread rising on the stove. Heck, I wanna get out and do some 3am shopping, everything seems to be open 24/7 anyway, especially the grocery stores, and the people who are nocturnal like I am are generally more cool and laid-back....meh, this is my mind wandering and being silly again. But seriously, if I weren't visually impaired, I'd brave it out in the night time and do my shopping at this time. Who else are nocturnal cats? Anyone??? I think I hear a bunch of snoring so dont' think I'll get much of a response

You're just trying to avoid talking to me.. J/K lol Though in my younger years I did like staying up, but the latest was probably around midnight, too much later and I'd be a mess. I can't imagine being awake and alert at 3am, yet I hate getting up at 6:50 am..My perfect time for sleeping would be from about 10or11pm until 8 or 9am..I know, that is at least 9 plus hours of sleeping, but hey, I love to sleep.. Sop, since you are probably now sleeping away, I will get back to work and if I get most of my schoolwork done tonight, I probably won't be online, because my son hasn't been on for a few days. Though I will leave FB open, in case of a code, I will tell my son that if you alert me, I will need get on for the code..:)

Of course I was avoiding you, I'm the Great Avoider of Human Beings! I love sleep as well, and yes that's about the amount I get, ten hours a day on average. I been that way for years. Probably since I got pregnant with my son, I think that's when I started to sleep longer hours. Before I was awake allll the time lol Ya, Swagbucks is having a big birthday bash don't wanna miss that. I'll be stuck in the house so to speak anyway because we gonna have a lovely roast dinner. Mmm-MMMMM!

ha ha that is really weird Masihi , though you have got some similarity with me. i do find myself more energetic at night and there was some sort of peace in my ind to do all kinds of productive works that time. even the best of the ideas came to my mind during the night. i hardly find it necessary to sleep and started making myself a cup of coffee to relax myself with a story book or mylotting or doing my other stuffs. well i do not mind your idea for a 3am shopping.does anyone like to company you on that? i wish i was there then i would have given you the right kind of company as i too find myself the real active at night hours. Best Wishes.

Sure I would love some company! We can haunt the grocery stores like a pair of ghosts and sweep things off the shelves! I would imagine the stores would be nice and empty since most people do their shopping during the daytime. Know what else I'm thinking? Come summertime I'd love to take a walk at 4am when it's just beginning to get light out. Maybe do a bit of early-morning berry picking as well.

Wow when its late and I am tired there is no way that I can do better at things. If I was to bake things at 3am I might fall asleep and forget there was something in the oven or when mixing the ingredients I might forget the most important ingredient and have the food turn out terrible. But in your case you do better so thats fine. Do it your way whatever works right :)

I don't sleep that well and wake two or more times during the night... I have been known to read my book, make a drink and text my husband as he is a night shift worker. One night I texted him and he phoned me, had a lovley chat at 2am, one of the children got up to go to the toilet and waondered who I was talking to!!!! I do feel sleepy in the daytime and if I sit down I do sometimes have a nap, sometimes if I keep on the go and not sit down I don't nap, but it doesn't help the sleep at night if I don't have a nap!! I put the sleep/waking up etc to my age!!!

I try to go to bed late in the hope that I sleep longer, doesn't really work as I always wake up around 1am, even if i go to bed at 12pm! Don't know why, I put it down to my age. I can wake three or four times a night. If I sit down during the day I do tend ot nod off ofr a few mins, but it makes no diffference to my sleeping at night as if I stay on the go all day and don't sit down and do nothing I still have the same problems. I nealry always wake before the clock goes off in the morning, and it goes off at 5.45am

I'm really trying to get back into the 10pm-8am routine, Hubby was really upset that I missed church again because of my morning cat naps, and I seriously can't keep this up. He's a devout Pentecostal and keeps on saying that what if the glory of G-d falls and that if I miss it then I miss out on G-d's Anointing (you know, pentecostal talk) LOL I'm like I'm not even a part of your religion :-p Men! Grr, just a rant, but still, this nocturnal sleeping pattern is pissing off my husband as well.

I am not a night person at all. I can easily get up early, say 4 to 5am to start my day but cannot stay up very late. My wife is more nocturnal like you. Interesting that you mention the depression as she has suffered depression for most of her life and loves the quiet time of night so that she can be alone and peaceful. She used to go to bed with me and then get back up after I had gone to sleep. Then she would sleep rally late, sometimes most of the day. It was not a very healthy way to live.

When you start to go out hunting birds and rats, then I will be worried!

Funny you you mentioned that it's not healthy because I was thinking that last night as I was sitting at the computer. I know about the melatonin cells and how we need to rest when it's dark, but I'd get into a good 10pm-8am routine be good for a few months then BANG! some disruption in my schedule like the Christmas holidays and I fell out of sync again. I turned into a nocturnal cat again. It's a wonder my eyes don't glow in the dark now.

I think you eventually will have to switch your body clock around soon. I have my oldest son that had trouble at night to sleep, and I didn't want him to destroy his health doing that. So we give him some supplements and have a regular meal schedule and sleeping schedule. He had depression and other problems related to our financial problems so it affects him more than my other children, pretty much adult children now.

Yes, I'm trying really hard to do that, to keep peace with Hubby,he's all the time wanting me to go to church with him and I'm usually practically unconscious at that time :-p But me being a part of his church is important to him, even though I'm a Messianic Jewish believer. What kind of supplements do you give for us insomantics

Haha, going to work with no sleep is pretty adventurous for me, I'd ***HAVE*** to go to bed for at least 3-4 hours in the morning before I can even remotely function. I tried going back to sleep but that only makes the nights long and boring so I figure I'd make my night more productive. Last night - or should I say the wee hours of this morning - I was able to bake some cookies for Christmas 2012 to put into the freezer.

Hi Masihi, i think i don't have the mood to bake cake early in the morning. Especially, after 12 midnight. I remembered once, when i want to bake cookies for new year celebration, i ever baked cookies until nearly 1am. I do felt very sleepy and unable to move around much since my eyes are drowsy and sleepy. I think i am not a nocturnal cat at all...I am going to snore if it is passing 12 midnight...

When I was living in Idaho I used to have to cook after 10PM because that was when our electric bill would be lower. I would also do laundry late at night as well. I have always been a night owl. I love the area I live in because I can shop any time of day and the stores are less crowded late at night than they are during the day.

I am also a nocturnal baby like you. I do like to do things at night. I don't know why. And I prefer to stay in bed the whole day. Well at least I know know I am not alone. lol. but in terms of work, i prefer days shift than night shifts..make sense?
