Good day to all. I am overweight and found out recently thet I am pregnant. I am plus size and have been with my first pregnancy, and It was extremely uncomfortable the first time around. I would love to feel a bit better this time and lose some weight. I am not talking crash diets and starving. Do you think it would be safe to start a regular exerciseplan and taking it slow at first but building towards fitness. For me it would be great to be comfortable during this pregnancy. Please share your opinion. I would love to hear it.

I think it would be better to have your weight loss plan after pregnancy. As of now, it's best if you do a few minutes of walking everyday. Some said it's also good to be walking up and down the stairs in a moderate manner. Then avoid sweet foods. Indulge more on fruits and green leafy vegetables because they are really good for you and you baby. Just eat a balanced diet and make sure that you have proper nourishment because there's two of you sharing the food you're eating. What you eat is what your baby eats. Good luck on your pregnancy and staying healthy.

Hi Zorrogirl, Congratulations for your baby.. Losing weight during pregnancy is not really advisable since it may affect your child, the best thing to do now is to eat healthy foods and avoid foods with lots of calories. try to lower down on your carbo intake.. and also monitor your blood pressure.. avoid foods that are sweets like chocolate, and also foods that are cold like ice creams..and don't forget coffee.. be safe..

I had the same problem when I was pregnant. The doctor told me that it's too late to try to lose weight when you're pregnant. The only excercise he said I could do is walk, but it wasn't enough to lose weight. I had to wait until after I had the baby. I did manage to lose weight at the time.My doctor did say it's not good to try while pregnant.Maybe you should ask your docotr about to see what he says.

The best person to talk to regarding your situation is your doctor,a doctor knows what kind of food intake you can do during pregnancy, there were also some exercise that you can do that a doctor can advise you to do. Don't take the risk of taking the wrong diet for your baby's sake. It is the time that you should take care of yourself well. Good luck & congratulations on your new angel....

I don't think it would be very clever to try and lose weight during pregnancy. However, you can try and eat helathy food, avoid eating any junk food at all and do regualr excercise which is safe for you such as walking. You shoud have tried to lose weight before getting pregnant again, it would have been better and safer for you. Before starting any excercise plan or diet, do consult with your doctor about it for your own safety and for the health of baby too. Good luck with the pregnancy...

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I am delighted to hear that you are expecting a baby. would say that light exercise and a healthy diet are fine in pregnancy. You could try walking and swimming perhaps. You might feel unwell with sickly turns in the first stage of pregnancy around weeks 8 to 12 especially week 9. The middle stage of pregnancy is a time you should feel happy and well. I would avoid doing much exercise in the final stage of pregnancy. If you get short of breath or dizzy whilst exercise stop and see your midwife. You should work out your body mass index. I remember my last baby being born and my legs didn't feel strong enough by the end of my labor. Good luck with losing some weight and having a healthy pregnancy.

Light exercise during pregnant can be really good for you. Also to lose weight an important thing is to eat healthy which is especially important when you are pregnant. If you can go for walks that is great for your body. There are places you can go and do pregnancy yoga and exercise groups etc. I walked a lot when I was pregnant other then that I didnt do to much.

yes you can try doing exercises everyday..a walk in the morning is a great exercise and you can try to eat fruits as well..also, try to stay away from sweets I guess..You don't have to starve yourself, take it slowly by taking light meals. What my sister did was she was taking heavy meals for breakfast and lunch but after 6 she's not eating anymore, or just not to starve herself if she feels hungry after six she eats biscuits..

You are not suppose to lose weight while pregnant. But it is good for you to eat right and do some kind of work out. But before you do so you do need to talk to your doctor to make sure that its okay to do what you are doing because of the safety of the baby and if you lose to much weight it can hurt the unborn baby and the nutritionist that he or she needs to grow. Its best to wait till after the baby is born to start a more heavier routine to lose the baby weight but not while your pregnant even if it doesn't make you feel good.

losing weight during pregnancy is not advisable, you should not do that because the baby in your tummy will be affected. they wont get enough nutrients if you will do that..beter to ask your doctor so that you will be guided carefully.

This usually occurs during pregnancy in order to compensate the need of and your baby in maintaining your nutrition. Its ok to do some exercise routine but before doing so, it is much better to seek for medical advice. Check for any possible increase of blood pressure, gaining weight could be a possible sign of pre eclampsia. Controlling your sodium intake will be a great help to prevent any pregnancy problems.

Hi,Zorrogirl... I think it would be safer for you and the baby to hold off your weightloss regimen just after you give birth. The baby needs all the nutrients he/she can get in order to grow strong.

You can start walking every morning, I think. Doing your chores is also a part of your physical exercise. For more information you can consult your doctor as regard wtih type of exercise that is safe for you.
