First reactions?

I would remain still for a few seconds, hold my breath while praying and asking for forgiveness and protection. If it seems to last more than a minute, I would run outside, I would be trembling for fear probably. Those will be my first reactions if an earthquake occurs. But I hope and pray that it won't happen.

@neelia That is a tough question to answer. I know what I am suppose to do. I was taught in school and through television what we are suppose to do if an earthquake (and other natural disasters) should occur. I think I would pray like I have never prayed before. As in all situations that induce panic, my first reaction is to holler for my God to help me.

Very true! What comes to mind when a sudden strong earthquake occurs is "Oh no are we going to die?" and then pray.

If an earthquake happens, you should know which measures you have to take to be saved and what to do if you are able to help other people. I'm sure that in your country the rulers have spread info about what to do during an earthquake.
I know it is easier said than done. But it depends how you will react. I hope your reaction will be good. I'm living in a country where these events occurs occasionally too. Few days ago we have had one, luckily without damages.

Yes, there are drills and helpful information on what to do during such things. But things happen differently during the actual event or calamity. We may say we know and have memorized the measures but when panic sets in first, it would be different, especially in a crowded place. Sometimes it's not the earthquake itself that causes accident but the stampede.
Anyway, my reactions that I described above will only last for a minute or two, then I would be sane enough to do what should be done. Thanks, Rick
