I remember the traumatic experience I have when i upgraded from XP to Vista, Its so nightmarish, Many old programs dont work with Vista and Vista is not username friendly. Windows 7 is somehow better than the mess Vista is. I am very comfortable with Windows 7 already. I heard that windows 8 is kinda controversial already, even before released, I heard it cant play pirated software, lets all be honest, only rich people and Uber moralist people doesnt use pirated softwares.... I saw a screenshot of windows 8 and its looks so complicated to use. Are you happy with the current windows are you using? do you think Windows 8 will make our lives easier or would it be a headache like Vista?

I have Windows Vista, and I'm stuck with it. I tried to have it upgraded to Windows 7, to improve my pc's performance, but my pc wouldn't allow it.Windows Vista sucks.

a lot of people hated Vista so much that they go back to xp. I remember how user unfriendly Vista was. It my worst computer using experience. I saw a video of Windows 8 and it looks terrible. I dont know if I can trust it at all, the interface looks chaotic, imagine your monitor screen looks like an ipod screen. the icons were too big.

I have two computers, one with Vista and theb other with XP.the one with Vista is on the verge of crashing because it picked up a trojan,I had it at the repair and the guy didn't remove it.It can't be removed.I'm gonna have to replace that pc,when I do I want one with XP.My pc with that program don't seem to pick up viruses and it runs smoothly for me.The Vista pc seems to always pick up something.I'm gonna save for another pc. That one with Vista in it won't accept a different program it refuses it.

Windows 8 is about apps. I dont really need apps, I just need some necessary softwares and of course games.

I'm using Windows 7 in my netbook and as far as performance is concerned, I'm happy and satisfied with it. It's very convenient to use and I love all the features in all the office programs. I haven't heard about Windows 8 so I can't offer any opinion on it. But if this is going to be too complicated and I would encounter problems during upgrading, then I'll probably choose not to upgrade. And besides, I'm thinking of switching to Apple.

I've seen one video and I saw what you meant about the touch screen. At first, I actually thought it was a cellphone with a touch screen. I think, it's pretty neat. I liked the part about how "applications talk to other applications". The presentors said there are many other features and I think I'm interested to see it. However, it seemed to me that the desktop wallpaper is gone?

I hate how scandalously big those icons are. I mean if I installed a naughty software, I want it to be hidden to a place only accesible by me but it seemed like its not anymore.

I looked up a video of windows 8 produced by the Windows company itself. It doesn't look that different from the Android and iPad operating software actually. If you're used to using an iPad or a tablet then you'd probably have no problem with Windows 8. It's quite different from Windows 7. Windows 8 seems to be more for touchscreens than the usual keyboard/mouse-operated computers. But as my dad brought up, people prefer to be able to immediate access their programs than have to press Start - Programs - xxx software... It's a lot faster if you can just immediately start your program. That's why the iPad and Android are so popular. It's easy to use and is fast.

I am not comfortable with the new interface though, how can I have some naughty softwares if I cant hide them cos they were automatically displayed in large resolution. I have an Ipad, but I dont want to feel like I am using an Ipad if I am using a PC,

Well, don't know what to say `bout you guys, but i`m still using Vista as an active OS for daily use and I`m happy with it. It isn`t a fail like everyone sais in my opinion. And about W 8, i`m quite skeptical about the user-friendly interface, as I find it hard to accomodate to it, from what i`ve seen in pics, but hey. I`ll give it a shot anyway and see how it performs after all, but i hardly believe it will be easier to use than the previous OS`s.

I guess you havent tried to install older games and programs, that is the main complaint with Vista. Windows 8 doesnt look user friendly to me, Vista was actually fixed after having some updates but the Beta version makes me go back to XP. It also have removed the good things in XP. But I dont need to debate about how much i hate Vista.. Since this topic is about windows 8. If I want touch screen, I'll use a tablet.

Hi friend' Ussually problem new os is uncompatible old program Like program run on win 2000 or lower can not run on vista or higher. We must find adapter/converter software.I think improvment os is good, but its so fast make problem for old program compatibility. You must wait to final os to get perfectly.

I saw a video of how Windows 8 works and its scary and complicated, we got spoiled with the traditional operating system with start menu, now everything is scattered on screen. they were also trying to get rid of traditional desktops, Windows 8 looks like an Ipad or an android pad. It looks complicated as heck. also there are games comfortable to play with keyboard and mouse... Windows 8 are convincing game developers to make all games to use the touch screen feature.

Windows 8 just builds on the new technology introduced in Windows Vista and improved upon by Windows 7. Which means that all your programs and drivers that worked in Windows Vista and Windows 7 will probably also work in Windows 8. Don't worry about your programs not being compatible with the new interface Metro: the Metro interface is separate from the Windows desktop, so Metro apps will run in Metro and good old desktop apps will run in the desktop. Don't worry about the pirated software thing, the desktop is still the same and your pirated software will run just fine. *wink* I have personally used the Consumer Preview and I must say that the performance improvements are massive. Using my weak 1 Ghz netbook on Windows 8 is very smooth and lag free. And my games now pump out more FPS when I play them. Sweet! Plus Explorer and Task Manager have gotten some cool improvements, though some people may not like them. However there is no more Start Menu, it's been replaced by the Metro Start Screen. I think this is the primary reason most people might hesitate to switch to Windows 8. I personally don't like it, I think it's inefficient and clunky on a desktop, although I can see how great it would be on a tablet. Other than that, the rest of Windows has stayed pretty much intact. Personally for me, I'm not gonna let the Metro Start Screen deter me from Windows 8. The performance improvements and upgrades to some elements of the desktop are good enough for me, even if I have to put up with the Start Screen. But I think that's up for you to decide. It could very well be the next Vista if enough people don't like it.

the metro is the reason why I was really hesitant of windows 7,maybe if its in a pad I will like the metro. so there is no way to be in the actual windows desktop? you will start at metro. I am not really interested in those apps so that is one of the reason I dont like the metro., No start menu? you are right, that gives me discomfort to give it a chance.I know someday they windowswill force to upgrade cos future games may run only for windows 8 but I will stick with windows 7 for now. Maybe once its out of the beta phase, I may try it, cos buying vista on the first day gave me a bad experience, If windows 8 wont forbid me from installing pirate softwares, then I might give it a chance someday.

I have a game collection and some of them are old, as in windows 98 era, are they matched with windows 8? I still play some of my old games when I am nostalgic.
