Now the reason I posted this here is because in the U.S. a lot of churches do not believe in birth control because its against their God's plan. I want to know why religions are against birth control and do the people against it realize its not only used to not have children. I am not talking about abortions. I believe an abortion is a woman's choice however I am personally against abortions except if a child is raped and ends up pregnant and both children will die. No I am talking about birth control pills, shots, IUDs, etc. These things are not just used for not having children. They can be used for medical purposes like helping a young girl regulate her periods, helping women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome, Endometriosis, acne, anemia, etc. Why is it so against some christian/catholic, etc religions for women to take these medications? Is it better for them to be in pain and suffering because of them? Please share your opinions on this in regards to religion. I really don't understand why something they could help them is considered evil or bad because there are women unmarried and married who either don't want children or need help with other medical issues.

Other than the Catholics, I don't know of any Christian denomination that opposes birth control. I'm not Catholic, so I don't know why they opposes birth control unless it's because God told man to be fruitful and multiply.

There are a few Christian churches around where I live and my family who live out of state and while not as outspoken as perhaps Catholics, they don't agree with it either.

Where I live the denominations are presbyterian, non-denominational, baptist and jehovah's witnesses (there are catholics and such but not as many). The ones that have said it are jehovah's witnesses, presbyterian and a popular non-denominational church around here,

I think the christian religion is against birth control. If you don`t want kids then don`t do it. The fact that some churches have agreed with those things doesn`t change what is written.God loves children.

Yes, I do think God wants us to have fun from time to time, why else would he give us the capacity for fun? all the best ruban

And where is it written that God is against birth control? Even the Romans use the rhythm method which is birth control all the best urban

As I understand it, nowhere is there a scriptural prohibition on birth control all the best urban

Where is it taught? Perhaps in the Roman and Orthodox Churches but then they have invented many novel doctrines the are contrary to scripture. all the best urban

As far as I understand it, there is not a scripture prohibiting it.. however that is not how it is taught. It is taught that God is against it, but I also can't believe this God people preach so much about wants the world so overly populated that all his 'children' die from starvation, lack of resources to live, etc. Even getting surgery to stop procreation is apparently bad, but this was about the fact that these pills can help other issues and religion is against them because they can also be used as birth control.

I don't understand also why many churches in the world; the catholic church and protestant churches and others are against about this while the bible did not. Only the Church of Christ, stand to this because they follow what the bible say and I think that is other church must follow.. Birth control is not against the law of God...In fact there is a commandment that after the population growth in it's limitation it should be stop

I guess cause God said 'be fruitful and multiply'. In the beginning he wanted or needed an entire population to cover the earth for His big plan. Now, as far as the way I believe, I have not heard anything against birth control. I guess people believe we should let things happen naturally the way God would have it work out.

In my country we have this pending bill in Congress called the Reproductive Health Bill which is to provide extensive information for couples on the importance of contraceptives. There was an intense opposition from the Catholic church based on the teachings of the Bible. Since my country is a predominantly Catholic, the devoted are expected to follow the teachings of the church. We are over populated and many live their lives in misery and poverty since the government is no longer capable of providing them the necessary support. I am not Catholic and I have always used contraceptives because supporting a big family is not something I wish for. Couples need to be responsible and should be aware that they need to provide for the most basic needs of their children. In my country you will be disappointed when you look around and see the little kids roaming around and begging for alms. It pains me to see my country in poverty because of over population.

In my country there is supposedly "freedom" of religion but the only religion people want shown is any type of Christianity/Judaism/Catholicism and basically a Catholic church is against it because of procreation, but no one looks at what would happen with over population and I would be sad to see so many children not being taken care of because people believe birth control is bad. I live in the U.S. and this is an election year and one of the big issues is abortions and so on, but the churches are going against the birth control thing because you can't procreate. The pills however help with other issues and female complications that could cause the loss of innocent lives if they get a lot lot worse and the pills solve it, but religion states they are wrong. I can imagine how painful it would be to see a place I grew up in with poverty because of overpopulation. Here it pains me to see how many children are actually in foster homes because the people didn't want kids but their religion said no birth control.

Well, I'm a Catholic woman and I personally never used any form of birth control until after my oldest daughter was born nine years ago. After she was born my boyfriend (now husband) and myself decided that we weren't ready to add to our family so I went on the pill and continued to take the pill until 2005, when I got pregnant of the pill and then suffered a miscarriage as a result of being on the pill. I never took another birth control pill after that day. However, after our son was born in 2006, we decided that our family was complete and I made the decision to have a tubal ligation. It might have been possible back in the older days to raise a large family comfortably, but today that just isn't possible.
