When was the last time you went shopping on a sale?

I just came back from shopping. There was a huge sale at the biggest department store in town so I took the chance to shop for clothes and shoes. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to buy not even one piece of clothing! I just didn't see anything that I liked and at the same time I needed. I mean, I wanted to buy something that I can use comfortably everyday but it had to be something that I really like. I didn't see anything that fit my criteria. .

Secret, u went to a sale and yet u bought nothing, not even a piece of clothing? BUT WHY? It's supposed to be a sale, and whether u need it or not, u ought to buy it and regret when u reached home. U are too clear minded for such sales, secret hehe ^_^ MOst of my friends are eager for such sales and they will never go home empty handed. Whether they like, or need, they grab whatever they can, just to make sure their psychological needs are fulfilled.. haha

Buy and regret afterwards? I've been there and I don't want it to happen again.

But probably, if I have the money, I will forget being level-headed for a second.

That's why i'm saying, u are too level headed, secret ^^ I wont ask you out for such sales again, because i will end up buying nothing at all .. lol Sales are meant to be crazy, and i will surely convinced myself that i really need them, find tons of excuses just to buy on impulse.. haha

Hello secretbear. It was a month ago, just a few days before our traditional spring festival when my mother and I went shopping for a pair of shoes for her. We went from shop to shop and finally found one shoe shop with all of those there on sale. We found one pair that fit my mother and she is happy with the shoes. It was really cheap and a good buy. I am glad that my mother likes them. Usually I love to buy things on line and it is much cheaper there. So far I have done a lot of online shopping together with my wife. There are a lot of sales on line as well. Online shopping has become part of my life due to our lack of time for real shopping in shops. It is a lot of fun though. Take care, friend.

Good for your mother. I'm not very comfortable shopping online since I can't immediately get the goods that I order. I don't like waiting so I only buy something online once in a while.

I do a lot of online shopping, but not usually for clothing. I design jewelry so I go online for supplies for that, and I also make teddy bears and do the same thing for that business. I shop eBay for electronics and other things that I happen to want so that I can get them at a much better price than locally. Oh, the biggest thing I buy online is textbooks for my classes. I don't buy clothing online or through a catalog because I am really finicky about the fit. I have an area on my back that swells a lot and usually I have the area swollen when I try clothing on, so it is important for me to make sure that the fit is right so that I am comfortable. Same thing with my pants, I have a leg brace to keep in mind when I buy pants so there is the extra room for that darned brace. Sometimes I have to give up fashion for a comfortable fit. I definitely don't wear dresses anymore because of the fact that my left knee is full of surgical scars from 6 different surgeries on it.

Well it is not recommended to check store sales and to buy a lot of stuff. We look for sales to save money. But if you load your cart with things that you don't need, you are surely going to ruin your financial strength. So, it is good to see that you were not inspired by the offers. What you did not like - you did not buy. This sounds cool. Just stick to it. Happy mylotting.

The last time I shopped at a sale I was able to buy a pair of cropped black pants with a little stretch in my size! I'm big and I usually wear big loose clothes that do nothing for me. These pants fit me properly and are snug and comfy. Then I found some lovely long line tops in a soft drapey jersey...a soft apricot, a lovely salmon and a black with some lace. These were $20 down to $10 but they all shrank!! They are still wearable and still look OK but I will need to hand wash them very carefully in future.

I received a $50 gift card to Khols Department store near us. I went in one day when I was alone and found two pairs of pants and three shirts, and five pair on name brand underwear! I was thrilled!!! One shirt I do have to do some tailoring on, but that is fun for me. We're getting a TJ Max here too, but I am not sure about the quality of their clothing. I usually find my stuff close to the end of the season, and I make sure that it is classic styling so that I don't have to worry about it being out dated the next season. The same goes for the shoes. Of course I have to buy cushioned shoes so finding them is nearly impossible. I can't wear anything with high heels or even raised heels so I am really stuck, especially since I don't want to look like I'm wearing orthopedic old lady shoes. Usually, like you, though I go home empty handed from my shopping trips. I have a certain price range I will consider for my clothes and won't go over that amount. So, it isn't too often that I take clothes home.

Hi Loverbear! Sometimes I find myself buying items that would still need some sewing adjustment, too! I think it's okay since I'm buying it on a big discount. So a little sewing is okay. That's really unfortunate! I've always loved high-heeled shoes and to not be able to wear one would be really depressing for me. ^^ Most of the time I also set a price range for clothes so I don't go overboard on my expenses.

Thank you for the BR! I always have my day brightened when I earn one. Even though I have earned a few, it still thrills me as much as the very first one I earned. I do have to admit one thing. Last Friday I went to town to pick up a couple of pearl restringing jobs and of course I stopped by the thrift shop. I didn't find a lot of stuff, but in the jewelry display case I found the most gorgeous pair of dangle earrings that were silver color and had pink rhinestones. I put them on and immediately felt like a princess. I'm afraid that they are going to take over my wardrobe and it's going to be centered around a $6 pair of earrings! I still won't be able to add heels to the mix, but otherwise there are going to be outfits centered around those earrings. One of the best hints I learned is to shop for your clothes near the end of the season. Now that stores are trying to make as much money as possible, they start stocking the next season's clothing mid current season, so they start the mark downs earlier. That's why I buy classic styles because they will stay in style no matter what season it is in whatever year. The other thing I do is watch the men's department for my shorts and jeans because they are made better and the price cuts are deeper. I also buy my tee shirts and work around the house shirts in the men's department for the same reason. I do sometimes rework them so that I can use them with my going out wardrobe. Since my sewing machine also does embroidery, I can "fem and glam" it up with a few embroidered flowers etc. (The machine is a Memory Craft 8000- I love the computerized machines like that, and will also eventually upgrade to the 10000 machine that does more embroidery work and has more other options to it.) I don't know if you watch "What Not to Wear" on TLC, but they tell the people that it's okay to pay full price for an item and then add the tailoring on top of the price. I don't quite agree on that point because of the cost of tailoring. (I know, I used to support myself and my daughter on the income form my repair work and tailoring.) But I guess it's up to the person buying the item. I do love watching the program and seeing what they do for the new victim each week.

My last shop was when I bought Christmas gifts. There was a sale during then and I could say I have saved a little from that price slash and I had bought a quiet number of gifts especially toys for my nieces and nephews.

most of the time, i dont go shopping to a sale on purpose but if i see a great deal, i will get one. for instance, i happened to be at Walmart with hubby and inlaws and took my daughter to look at the shoes and ended up getting a pair of shoes for me for $3.oo (of course they were off season, but who cares?)

Gone are those days when shopping was the chief concern of buying up both essentials and the not so needy items. Now, restricted to the maximum...

Sometimes I don't feel like shopping when there's sale. So many things you'll see that interests you to buy that you forgot what you really need most. So better to shop when it's not sale, however it's true that you get good savings in sale.

There have been times when I have went to big sales and couldn't find a thing I really wanted or liked..lol..it is disappointing. I actually went last month to a little store in the mall because my daughter needed some new clothes and there it was....a huge sale. There were some beautiful sweaters there for $5!!!! I was in heaven and actually got 5 or 6 of them for myself. It hasn't been cold enough to wear them yet but we are supposed to get some snow tonight.

Wow, that's a great deal! Which reminded me, I wasn't able to go to the other stores inside the mall, I was only able to see the sales inside the department store. I got so tired that I didn't have time to visit other stores.

Well, I guess there's a reason all of those things are on sale! I hate shopping and then leaving empty handed - that's the worst feeling ever! I don't normally shop at department stores (I usually stick to thrift stores/second hand stores), but I went to one at Macy's a few weekends ago. I found an amazing dress on clearance, not like I ever wear dresses anyway, but it was in the wrong size. I tried on the size that was too small (Medium, and I needed a Large) and it just wasn't going to work for me - WAY too tight!!) I was super disappointed. And that dress was really the only thing that caught my eye. Oh well, better luck next time for us, eh?

Money has been so tight lately that I have not gone a shopping spree in ages. I am losing weight, but I am hoping that I will be able to wait a little bit to buy clothing. I do buy food because I have to, but I try not to spend money unneccessarily. In March Randy is taking me to see the group Alabama as an early graduation present (I graduate in April with my Masters) so I need to save as much money as possible for our overnight trip. I am really looking forward to this little getaway.

The last time I went shopping on sale for clothes and shoes was on boxing day but didn't buy a lot of stuff. I only bought what was necessary and what I needed. I sometimes shop online too if there are good sales on some store...

For me is not a criteria for shopping buy a lot at once. Last time when I was shopping on sales was few months ago. I was going around the town, all the shops which interested me and found really good shoes for winter time. Really good brand of it, maybe the best of outdoor brands. I am really happy because I bought them for a half price of their normal. Great deal.

I go right after Christmas when the stores are starting to clear out their merchandise for upcoming inventory. I drive 5 hours to my favorite store, but that is OK as it is near my vacation home where I love to spend the winter holidays. This year I got new slippers, golf shoes, socks, a few blouses, some jeans, and more at prices from 55 to 70% off. This is not a department store, though. I get stressed out at those sales and seldom go, as like you, I usually don't find anything I need there.

Secret, i remembered the last time i went shopping during sale was on Christmas day. Although there are lots of sales going on in that shopping mall but not every clothes fit me. Most of the sizes and pattern fits for teenagers. So, i only managed to get a dress for Christmas eve. Regarding shoes, i didn't able to get any since the pattern which i like don't have my size. On that day, i also bought some food on sales as well. Not much things i am able to buy during that sales.

I think probably the last time was just before Christmas when my daughter gave me a gift card to an awesome high dollar store. Everything I bought that day was on sale. I bought shoes I loved. I bought another scarf. I have always loved scarves. I bought socks. I mess those up in a hurry. And I bought a sweater jacket.. Really cool one like everyone is wearing now that's longer on the back than in the front and has lapels instead of collars. It was a great sale. I can't shop at that store unless they have sales.

I had a lesson learned when I was supposed to have a shopping spree in a Department Store's big sale as they claimed. When I was there, only selected items, usually old stocks have big discounts while those which I supposed to buy had only 5%-10% discount. Instead, I have opted to buy kitchenwares which I needed not wanted to display in a cabinet.

I remember I went something for shopping last year before Christmas. Normally when I go for shopping, I have to go to boutiques rather than find something whcih are displayed and put out of the stores. It's just hard to dig up nice clothes.

I know! The mountainous pile of the clothes on big discounts were such a discourage. It's annoying to sort out of those pile just to find one nice blouse you want.
