I called in sick last Thursday for the first time in probably about a year. I don't get sick pay, and I generally don't get sick. But I had the flu or some sort of bug where I was constantly throwing up. Anyway, I was chatting with my sister - she gets sick A LOT - but her job also pays her for SIX(6) sick days at work. I thought hmm - 6 sick days a year?! That seems a little over the top...
How many do you think is an ACCEPTABLE amount of sick days per year?
How many have you had this year?

I used to have a job that gave 15 sick days a year. It didn't accumulate so we really had to use it, or else it would be go back to zero the following year. Although I didn't get sick lots of times, I did use it for days that I 'had to' do something.
My current job doesn't really specify an 'acceptable' number, but I have had to use one last year. That's when I had to spend the day with the kids, as they didn't had school. We spent that day hiking.
