Not yet pregnant... :-(

I've been married for 14 months and I'm not pregnant yet... A year prior to my wedding, I've already consulted an OB-GYNE to make sure that we will not have problems on having a baby considering that I have irregular menstruation.. The consultation ended up with the OB-Gyne's prescription on fertility pills. I took the fertility pills for one year and decided to stop it due to various negative comments I've received on the said drug.. A friend of mine, during a chat, told me that perhaps the reason why I'm not pregnant yet is because I am always gaining weight.. Right now, I'm taking meal replacements and I'm feeling kinda lighter... She also told me to eat foods that promotes fertility.. I would like to know if you have eaten fruits/vegetables/seafood which promote fertility and can actually assert that these actually promote fertility (of course, resulted to having a baby)...

I think you need to check thoroughly your internal organs. If there is nothing wrong, then you can try everything suggested here. But if there is abnormality you need to consult the doctor. I hope everything is alright.

Yes, I agree with you... Second or third opinion is really recommended to really check what is wrong... Thank you!

I agree! Sometimes not everyone has the option of trusting their spiritual guide. Our bodies need support sometimes and if that is the case, there is nothing wrong with talking to a doctor for a better informed second opinion. My concern with the doctor who just gave you pills, is that he/she didn't test anything. To just give pills with no real documentation to back up the reasons why, seems a waste of time and expense to you and your husband. There is nothing wrong with having a second opinion to help you make a better informed decision on what to do next.

What's the rush? Everyone acts like it's such a race to get married, have children, and "settle down". Anyways, were you on birth control before you started trying to conceive? I know that the shot can prevent pregnancy in some women for over a year. I know that there are lots of different kinds of natural shakes, teas, and herbs that are supposed to help with fertility. I am mot a fan of pharmaceuticals. I like natural stuff and that's what I would recommend. I bet that exercise could help as well. Do you exercise regularly? I recommend yoga. I am not sure what kinds of affects yoga has with fertility, but it can help with stress, which can be problematic.

Rush because I'm already in my early 30's and as they say pregnancy gets complicated as you grow older.. No, the pills were recommended to me by the OB-Gyne because I had irregular menstruation.. Yes, I've tried yoga but stopped due to my hectic schedule.. Probably I'll go back with yoga.. Thank you so much!

Oh I see. It is understandable that you would want to hurry due to age. Well if nothing else works, maybe you could try artificial insemination.

My aunt was in that situation too before. The best remedy you can make is to pray and ask to GOD. He has the power to give you and your spouse a child in accordance to His gracious will. Just believe and do not give up. I think it took almost 4 years before my aunt got pregnant, but everything is worth waiting for because they have asked and prayed to GOD continuously in this regard. Now they are still happily married with two little cute children. Just believe and have faith. GOD bless.

Thank you! My hubby was also telling me the same thing.. If it is really God's will, then we will have the baby as part of his blessings to our marriage.. Maybe I should refrain from pressuring myself from my family and friends' expectation..

I think being healthy can help for creating a baby. But I think age also matters and your pregnancy history in your family. But don't lose hope, just try and try and if god wills it, it will be given to you.

I'm sorry to hear of your struggling right now. I know how this feels as I've been there. Unfortunately, for me, it was my fallopian tubes that were blocked and my lining was scarred. I know you said that you saw an OB/GYN and that person gave you a prescription for fertility pills. Forgive me for asking, but what did he give you? Were you under a specialists care and being monitored while taking them? Have you had tests done to confirm whether your reproductive organs are well? I am on another board and this statement really sums a lot up. - you need to chart, not just for ovulation, but for symptoms and to give you an idea of what COULD be going on with your body. - I had thought that you could try "vitex" but depending on your body, it may not work. You need concrete evidence before you start fiddling with stuff. - I'd say start off by getting the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It is inexpensive and has a lot of information. - If you chart and follow the book, you will have a far better idea of how things are going, and then if you add anything to your body, you will see if there is an improvement or not. - If you aren't going to see a doctor, charting will help you verify things you have tried. - Get your hormones tested - Where is the father to be in all of this? Is he on board with getting tested himself? - Do you have any disorders that could affect your trying to conceive? Things like bulimia, anorexia, obesity. Have you included Vitamin D/B12? These are known to help regulate your cycle. These are just some things that you can do to start to work on getting your body into a cycle formation. Please let us know how you are doing :)

Consider seeing another expert with your spouse. This might help with better guidance. Take folic acid and take more naural food. Everything will work out if you are on a balanced diet and if there is nothing wrong with helath of either of you.

You should see your OB again and ask for another option to get pregnant. And not just taking pills. If your OB prescribe that pills then I think it not bad for you. Your doctor is not going to put you in danger.
