Read the Book

So true. When we read, we exercise our mind and by doing so we become sharper(at least, we think we do). I have problems back then with my kids. Me and my husband are avid readers, so we buy books and magazines. Our children would simply look at the pics then trash those reading materials. But, now they have learned to appreciate these.

Reading a book is so much better than watching a movie because a book stimulates your imagination and improves your concentration. I especially like to read a book while in bed with a candle burning. It creates a real mystical feeling.

yes, reading is knowledge in waiting. there are tons of knowledge stored in books, they are waiting for us to get them. that's how i see it. i like your suggestion to be a role model for kids. but this is going to be a tall order as computers lure kids more than books. it is good that there are e-books, but the computers games are more attractive to kids than books.

I really do have to agree with you. I think that you can always keep learning something new, as there's always something to be learned, one way or another. And I find that reading can certainly help you learn something that you may not learn elsewhere, or something. It's really enjoyable.

I also like reading books and if I have spare time ...Well , I do have a lot of it so I read at least one page per houre and read a discussion here on mylot and respond if I have the time. Reading books is an action that work the brain , improves our imagination , thinking skills , gives the reader information , makes the reader thinking about the book's content. But , I must say , for me , reading is only one thing I do to learn information. I also listen to the news , hear people's opinions , read updated sources of info like websites...books can also contain mistakes so checking can validate things. Knowledge is really necessary for life but the ways you use the information are important for life also: If you know many facts about something but can't answer questions or solve problems , the information is useless. I guess a rule model is also like a role model so the both forms are good here : you can set a rule and follow it , making a good example , like a role model , so let's define it as a rule model. I hope our society would be a rule model for reading and thinking and learning. Have a nice mylotting.
