Bottled Water For Better Tasting Coffee

I recently read a web article proclaiming that bottled makes a better coffee or even tea. I am going to admit to not being a true coffee drinker although I do like it. I do however make and drink alot of tea, and always used bottled water. I think it tastes better too. Have you tried to use both waters and is there really a difference to you?

Yes, I think there's a difference sometimes. It just depends on how bad the faucet/tap water is. I don't use bottled water in either, just don't buy that much of it. I love tea! I drink it all the time. I worry about my teeth though since tea can stain them. I love to dunk oatmeal cookies in coffee, yummy stuff!

Yea, the tea stains on teeth can be havoc wreaking, I have worried abut that too. Especially since the world seems to be all about glow in the dark white teeth these days. Mine are not like that sad to sad, maybe from tea drinking. Our faucet water is lousy, the bathroom faucet water even smells like bleach at times, oh my.

LOL! Well, at least you know that your bathroom water is germ free! I love the smell of bleach - when I use it, it just gives me a feeling of 'clean'. But not sure about drinking water with it. But it must be a safe type of bleach to drink, right?

Look at all my typos in that previous post, sorry about that. LOL I was hoping that the water would be germ free without the bleach though, I can't get past that smell of bleach at all, cause I know it's been IN the eater somehow and not from cleaning. I hope it's somewhat safe to drink as I have family members who do drink it, it doesn't seem to bother them.

Huh, I haven't heard of this. I don't drink bottled water - we have filters at home and filters at work. I drink a lot of coffee though and the taste is good as it is. Maybe I will try this and let you know. Happy MyLotting!

I just heard of it yesterday and it made me think. I hope the filters work, we had one long ago but I think it broke, or something unfortunately. Then the sink needed some repair and now there's no filter anymore. Yes, do let me know.

I haven't used bottled water to make coffee or tea. It sounds very logical though since there is so much chlorine in our water. I'll have to try it. Thanks for the suggestion.

There is alot of chlorine in the tap water, just how much I'm not sure exactly. The flouride is supposed to be more harmful now too so they say. I'm just confused about the whole thing, but do know the tap water usually tastes bad here.

Water makes a big difference in taste. I remember when I moved to Florida, my coffee did not taste right. I tried different brands and still did not like it. It was not until my co-worker laughed and said it's not the coffee! it's the water. You need to make your coffee with bottled water for it to taste right. From then on - I kept a few gallons on hand at all times.

So you're neighbor really knew this awhile already even before the artcile, good for her. She's a good advice giver and knows her water and coffee!

I hate bottled water, because they sometimes have a sort of weird taste which, for some reason, I associate with glue. (I've never tried to eat glue, but the taste of some bottled water just somehow strongly reminds me of glue.) Might just be difference between brands, but still. I wouldn't make coffee with bottled water. Do note though: The quality of tap and bottled water may be different in different regions or countries. So just because I think tap water is better here doesn't necessarily mean it'd be better elsewhere.

I agree, the water tastes like the bottle, if it is made of plastic, it will taste a little like the plastic after awhile. But it depends on the brand, sometimes some cheaper brands are worse than the more expensive types. I have learned to live with it though for the most part. Yes I agree with the fact in different countries tap water is worse than others. Heck even indifferent states in the USA it probably differs quite much, so thats a great point you brought up.

I am sure there is a difference. Some tap water really doesn't taste good. I did tried using a bottles water for my coffee but I cannot remember the difference already. I will try it again

I will do an experiment with it too, just to see if they were right, in the article. But it does make sense, the taste of the water will change the taste of the drink you're consuming. Hope it works out for you.

i do not think i would be able to recognize any significant difference, i have been used to heating water that is sterilized, and we do not drink tap water anymore here in our place.

Sterilized water is probably just as good as bottled water, I wonder about the flouride content though. Otherwise bottled water is fine for me.

I'm not sure if I had coffee with the bottled water. At home, we always use tap water. But when I go to coffee shops, it hasn't crossed my mind if they're using bottled water or tap water. Probably I'll have to do a small experiment on this. What I can distinguish is the taste of different brands of bottled water. There are some which leaves sort of a coconut juice aftertaste. This brand I'll have to try first to see if it alters the taste of my coffee :)

I'm guessing they use tap water at the coffee shop just cause it's cheaper for them. I mean they would have to charge extra for the bottled water consumption. The coconut water you are probably referring to with the coconut juice after taste is a thought too but doubt many would like it. Perhaps they have used it though in those coffees, interesting...
